Apparently talking about things that are unique to military spouse life means I’m making it my WHOLE personality?

Few can, or get the privilege, to handle all.of.this 🙃

I’m just here sharing pieces of my life so I can connect with other military spouses and help the community out

and (hopefully) we all know there’s so much more to us than a few clips online.

If you get it, you get it. If not, then remember that you are actually allowed to see things on the internet and keep scrolling… just saying

For the newer military spouses let me breakdown the 5 categories we’ve separated our stuff into as we prep for our military move to Korea

1. What’s going on the plane with us. I reached out to our airline and they said we get 5 pieces of luggage per person so we will be using suitcases and a few totes so we can have some basics in the hotel and while we wait for our stuff. Thank you for doing that for military families!

2. UAB aka unaccompanied baggage is a smaller weight allowance but lets you send some stuff “ahead” that will (hopefully) get there sooner. Our UAB is est. to arrive July 4th, while the HHG isn’t until Aug 31st, so we packed things that would help us feel settled.

3. HHG - aka most of our stuff. Going to Korea we are only allowed half our typical weight allowance though

4. NTS (Non Temporary Storage) which is the military’s silly way of saying long term storage. Since we can only take half our weight allowance to Korea, the military is paying for the rest to go in storage. The question is what will last well in storage 🤷🏻‍♀️

5. Sell and donate. I no joke have more cash on me and in my Venmo then I’ve ever had 😅

Would it be helpful if I go into more details about what’s going on the plane vs UAB?

Happy PCS season friends!

The chorus is my new theme song and 100% stuck in my head 🎵😅😵‍💫🎵

Anyone want to guess which part my girls keep singing? 😅

And remember, you’re doing great friend 💙

POV: the orders hit and suddenly your entire life became paperwork 😅

The PCS stress acne has officially entered the chat, so I guess everything is right on schedule 😂

As soon as EFMP was processes and we had orders for Korea, it felt like the race started immediately:
passportsHHG/UAB/NTS scheduling lodging reservations
figuring out the car situationflights through SATObriefings, paperwork, timelines, checklists…

Now we move into the “how do we actually LIVE in Korea?” phase 👀

At least every other day I’m hearing about another thing I didn’t know about that will be different and needs to be worked on 😅

If you’ve done an overseas PCS before, what’s one thing you wish you knew earlier?

I think I have cried out in prayer more times the last two weeks then the two months before that combined.

Military moves (or PCS for short) are no joke.

We are excited for all the new adventures coming, but sad about leaving our friends.

We maybe look forward to not having to cook while getting per diem, but don’t want to let go of control.

We are self reflecting on all we did while at our current home, and overwhelmed by all we need to do in the short term before we leave.

It’s no small mountain that we need to climb, but never forget you aren’t climbing it alone.

He will hold you on the days when you need to cry, and then He will help you climb. 💙

One of the biggest helps for PCSing in our family’s MANY military moves has been discovering moving label system.

This military spouse company figured out a way to make the move in day 10x easier!

Whether I’m doing a PPM (packing myself) or HHG (the military hires movers), I put her labels on every box!

Then come move in day I put the matching door handle labels on and give the simple instruction to the movers: set the box down only in the matching label door and up against the walls.

So while they are calling out box numbers and I’m checking them off on the massive list, I’m not also overwhelmed by needing to think of where that particular thing should go.

Or worse (like I did on our first PCS) not say anything and be left with a chaotic maze 😖😵‍💫

So if you are PCSing this year do yourself two favors
1. Remember He’s got you
And
2. Check out https://teamboxops.com?sca_ref=9613466.Geute1h62U7z and buy yourself some Box Ops Moving system labels! You won’t regret it!
