Attention residents and visitors of Warren. The Tiger Engine Company will be out testing dry hydrants today with the firetrucks, so if you see a firetruck on the side of the road with its lights on and people attaching hoses to it, have no fear. We are just testing the hydrants to make sure that they are in tip top working shape.

**Long Post alert (but worth it)**
Good Afternoon Friends and Family of the Tiger Engine company. Last night during our monthly business meeting we had 20 members presents out of 39. During that meeting we had a envelope that our late Captain Howard "Jim" Holloway had signed and delivered after his passing, inside that envelope was a few pictures of him during his Military career and a letter of accommodation that he received for saving the lives of his fellow men during combat. At the end of the meeting F.F William "Bill" Lufkin (Ret. Ast Chief) shared some knowledge with the group from previous secretary notes. Bill is definitely our history buff, so we all thought you should also get to learn the history of the Tiger Engine Company, so from this day forward we will be sharing history from our records book to you. We will publish what was covered during the meeting. Our meeting is every First Thursday of the month and this month we went over 12/02/1976 to 12/05/1985 and I will post the notes below. I want to say thankyou for anyone who stayed and read the whole post and I promise you they will be shorter the upcoming months. This September, Rockland Firefighter Elliot Stanley will take on the 50K Megunticook Trail Festival. It is one of Maine's toughest trail races. On September 12, 2026, he'll traverse more than 90% of the trail system in Camden Hills State Park, taking on miles of rugged terrain.

Elliot will be running to raise money for the Portland Firefighters Children's Burn Foundation, an organization that supports burn survivors and their families through financial assistance, education, recovery programs, and experiences that help children and adults heal long after they leave the hospital.

One of their programs is the Foundation's Fire & Ice Camp, which brings young burn survivors together each winter for a week of healing, confidence-building, and unforgettable experiences. Each year, campers make a special stop at the Rockland Fire Department, where they're welcomed by our members and get to spend time with the crews. It's a tradition we're proud to be a part of!

Another reason we have chosen to support their Foundation is because of the significant support they provided to everyone affected by the Searsmont explosion. Foundation members were waiting at the hospital, covered hotel stays for family members, and helped provide support during an incredibly difficult time. They are a Maine-based foundation that shows up for Mainers in some of their hardest moments, and we want to support the incredible work they do.

At Americus Hook and Ladder, we're honored to support Elliot's efforts.

From now through September 11, 100% of all cash and check donations made to Americus Hook and Ladder will be donated directly to the Portland Firefighters Children's Burn Foundation in support of Elliot's fundraiser.

Every donation, big or small, helps provide hope, support, and resources to burn survivors and their families.

If you see the trucks out and about today have no fear we are doing our annual hose testing. A huge shoutout to Industrial inspection & analysis for preforming the testing and inspection.

It is with deep regret that the Warren Tiger Engine Company announces the passing of Retired Captain Howard “Jim” Holloway.

We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary life and legacy of Captain Holloway, whose tireless dedication to our town and surrounding communities has left a lasting impact on us all. His unwavering commitment to sharing his expertise has inspired a new generation of firefighters. Though his time with us has come to an end, his spirit will continue to inspire us.

Rest easy, Jim. Your legacy lives on through us.
