We're celebrating National Community Development Week and highlighting our great CDBG/HOME projects. As a frontline healthcare provider serving our Pasco community through various clinical locations, especially our most vulnerable populations, Premier https://premierhc.org requested support from CDBG to help reduce the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and limit the spread of the virus. Of the most recent grant awards we received (Public Services & COVID PS & PD), the attached images showcase the extraoral dental high volume evacuation (HVE) suction systems that help with the following:

• Ensures accessibility and safety for health care workers and community residents during dental procedures.
• Improves infection control and prevention
• Remove droplets and aerosols from the air, reducing the chance that patients and care team members inhale aerosols produced during dental procedures. #CDWeek21

Community Development Week 2021!!

“The Shoals Community Clinic remained opened during the COVID-19 Pandemic. There are local shortages of Nurses during these times, therefore it has been crucial for nursing students to meet their necessary accreditation for graduation. However, the nursing students were able to get the clinical hours and patients were able to pick up their necessary medications, such as insulin and inhales, at the clinic.

The Clinic Manager and representative of Florence Housing Authority traveled to Montgomery to pick up COVID-19 testing kits and to also train in administering the COVID-19 rapid test. The training in Montgomery helped the clinic administer over 600 COVID- 19 tests, free to the public. Funding provided by the CARES Act and the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development allowed the clinic to receive financial assistance to extend services with a partnership with the Community Action Agency of Northwest Alabama.

The clinic extended health and dental services to those who have experienced the loss of income or jobs due to the pandemic. Throughout the pandemic, the clinic staff has continued to provide basic healthcare to those in need. As we emerge from this pandemic, the clinic will continue to service the community with quality healthcare services.” #CDWeek2021 #florencealabama #CDBG attracts investment in underserved communities.
