How is CDBG helping communities? The 2026 CDBG Impact Report explains it all.

This report highlights the significant impact of the CDBG program, including over 40 CDBG-funded projects that represent the versatility of the grant’s four main program areas: public services, public infrastructure improvements, affordable housing, and economic development. Over 1,250 state and local governments directly receive CDBG allocations, with an additional 7,200 rural and smaller communities receiving funds indirectly through their respective states.

On Saturday, July 11, 2026, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act was automatically enacted into law.

This occurred after President Trump took no action to either sign or veto the bill by the deadline of July 10. The legislation, passed by both the Senate and House with significant margins of 85-5 and 358-32, respectively, marks a significant milestone for housing policy.

Support for this legislation represents an urgent and widespread demand for housing affordability and accessibility across the United States. This bill is designed to address the housing crisis by increasing housing supply, reducing regulatory barriers to development, modernizing existing housing programs, strengthening disaster recovery efforts, and providing local communities with additional tools and competitive grants.

We’re thrilled to share this member project from Laredo, TX! 📍

The Lafayette Tiny Home Project is a transformative affordable housing initiative developed by the City of Laredo in collaboration with the Laredo Municipal Housing Division. In addition to providing rental housing for people experiencing homelessness, this project also offers case management, employment support, and health referrals as needed.

The project is strengthened by robust cross-agency collaboration. Local partners conduct monthly coordination meetings with the City to identify unsheltered individuals, streamline outreach, and coordinate supportive services. This interagency model is designed not only to provide housing, but also to stabilize lives, support recovery, and promote long-term housing success in Laredo.
