It's time for a commissioner highlight! Today, we're recognizing Erin Susman, who works the Director of Operations at WV Community Development Hub and serves as a commissioner Volunteer West Virginia.

"I served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member from 2018-2019, which was the first step in my career. I had no idea the skills, relationships and confidence I built in service would set me up for the person I am today. Now I get to shape the next generation of AmeriCorps members from those experiences."

What makes national service programs successful?

According to a new report from the Schultz Family Foundation and Pinterest, strong state service commission leadership plays a key factor. States where commissions brought together partners across education, workforce development, behavioral health, philanthropy, and nonprofits saw stronger partnerships and better outcomes.

The report recommends investing in state service commissions so they can continue service as statewide conveners and cross-sector leaders.

At America's Service Commissions, we know that meaningful change happens when organizations work together toward shared goals.
