Washington Island Airport (2P2) is a public-use airport serving the Town of Washington in Door County, Wisconsin. The airport, which is owned and operated by the Town of Washington, provides one of two methods for accessing the island, with a vehicle ferry providing the other means of access. There are two turf runways, each measuring approximately 2,250 feet in length and 150 feet in width. The airport is classified as a general aviation facility in the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). Its primary role is to meet the needs of general aviation, which includes recreational flying, flight training, and emergency transport.
The Town of Washington, in coordination with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's Bureau of Aeronautics (BOA), is undertaking an update to the airport's Master Plan and associated Airport Layout Plan (ALP) to address short- and long-term needs at the airport. These documents are required to be updated by the FAA to ensure the airport is operating safely and efficiently and is able to meet current and future aviation needs.
