Wayzata Pack 283

Wayzata Pack 283 Wayzata Cub Scout Pack 283 Pack 283 is a vibrant Pack of boys and girls with a very involved parent group. We love to get silly and have fun!

We are chartered by Wayzata Community Church, and have our Pack Meetings there on the 4th Monday of the month. We are the home Pack for Gleason Lake Elementary, Birchview Elementary, and St. Bart's Catholic School, but we welcome all kids grades K-5. Activities you can join include camping twice a year, Pinewood Derby, Blue & Gold Banquet, Polar Cubs, monthly Hiking Club, Nova STEM program, games, songs, summer camp, and more!

A big “Thank You!” to the Minnetonka Fire Department and our Cub Scout Dad who gave the scouts an amazing experience. The kids got to see the station, learn about the equipment firefighters wear, and explore the trucks.
We have a busy bunch who have gotten to know each other, they can be silly, but wow, they did great listening, sitting still, and learning. We also have great parent involvement leading and engaging our curious kids.

Pack 283 had a great time at the Gleason Lake Elementary Carnival. We brought our fishing game, taught kids how to cast the line, reel in their catch, and identify it on a DNR poster of the Fish of Minnesota to win a treat, Swedish Fish. We were surprised by how many kids were new to casting a fishing line. We’re looking forward to fishing as a Pack at Parker’s Lake on Monday, June 22nd. We hope you can join us.

Cub Scouts learned about government by attending a City Counsel Meeting. The scouts introduced themselves, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and had the opportunity to witness a meeting in action. They got to see that everyone is welcome to share at the meeting regarding community events or concerns. Clark Gregor did a great job empowering the kids to bring their concerns to the city, for example, if they see something broken at a park they can bring that item to the city to be fixed. Thank you to our Counsel Members, Den Leaders, and parents who created this opportunity for our Scouts.

Spring Campout at Baker Outdoor Learning Center. What do Scouts do on a rainy morning? Pivot and explore owl pellets. We found some really cool things and learned a lot along the way from the naturalist at Baker.

We had an Amazing Blue & Gold Banquet celebrating 81 years of Pack 283. Cub Scouts practiced their casting, and played camping games. We’re looking forward to fishing as a Pack in June, our Spring Campout, and all the adventures we will have with the warm weather.
