We will be monitoring this weather system closely through the weekend.

8/13/2026 - Scattered thunderstorms are expected over the next few days. Each day, a majority of the area will see limited to scattered lightning risk. For Thursday, these thunderstorms carry a higher risk for fire weather concerns. On Friday and Saturday, the primary threat will shift to a flash flooding concern, especially over burn scars.

Crews worked all day today along the remaining areas of heat working to extend the cold edge deeper into the fire perimeter.

📸Staff on the Tartar fire have been collecting unused food from the fire camp and donated some of that food to a food bank at St. Agnes Catholic Church a few days ago. Additional food will be donated to the Weiser Senior Center later this week.

The closure area for the Tartar Fire on the Weiser Ranger District of the Payette National Forest has been reduced. Please note that Spring Creek, Paradise, Justrite, Kiwanis, and Mann Creek campgrounds remain closed. We have two public surveys for those directly impacted by the Tartar Fire 2026

This is to gather information about any and all public needs in the aftermath of the Tartar Fire. Even if you do not have needs from a volunteer program, the information you provide (if affected by the Tartar fire) will help paint the true picture of the impact of this fire. Your information may help your neighbor!

This is where those affected by the Tartar Fire can document and list damage property whether insured or uninsured. This again will paint a picture for outside resources that, with enough information, could come and assist you or a neighbor to put pieces back together after this incident.

🔥Tartar Fire Highlight Story 🔥

Did you know that historical and cultural sites are among the many values firefighters work to protect during a wildfire? On the Tartar Fire, this historic lookout has been completely wrapped in fire resistant structure wrap, a special material used by Resource Advisors and firefighters to shield important landmarks from radiant heat.

This tactic is used when crews can get ahead of the fire to protect history, habitat, and range resources to name a few. Structure wrap has been used on everything from Giant Sequoias in California to historic buildings in New Mexico, and now, right here on the Tartar Fire for the historical Sturgill Peak Lookout.
