๐Ÿšง CHIP SEALING HAS BEGUN! ๐Ÿšง

The City of Weiser Street Department has officially started chip sealing!

โš ๏ธ Please stay clear of the work areas and obey all ROAD CLOSED signs, cones, and traffic control. Keeping the streets clear allows our crews to work safely and helps the project move along as quickly as possible.

They finished East Commercial today from the Highway to the Main Street intersection, they will start on East Park Tuesday morning from State Street to East 6th, Wednesday they will be doing West 9th from Pioneer to Upoer Rd and Friday they will be doing East Galloway from State to East 6th.

Once a street reopens, please drive slowly and use caution, as there will be loose gravel until the chip seal has fully settled and final sweeping is completed.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s patience and cooperation while our Street Department works hard to maintain and improve our city streets.

๐Ÿšœ Please give our crews plenty of room to work and help keep everyone safe!

๐Ÿšจ ATTENTION CITY OF WEISER RESIDENTS ๐Ÿšจ

The City of Weiser will be chip sealing a number of roads around town next week. Please take note of the following schedule:

๐Ÿ“… MONDAY, AUGUST 24
๐Ÿ“ East Commercial โ€” from Highway 95 to where it intersects with East Main

๐Ÿ“… TUESDAY, AUGUST 25
๐Ÿ“ East Park โ€” from State Street to Monroe Creek Bridge

๐Ÿ“… WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26
๐Ÿ“ West 9th โ€” from Pioneer to Upper Road

๐Ÿ“… FRIDAY, AUGUST 28
๐Ÿ“ East Galloway โ€” from State Street to East 6th

โš ๏ธ IMPORTANT โ€” PLEASE REMOVE ALL VEHICLES! โš ๏ธ

ALL CARS, TRUCKS, BOATS, TRAILERS, AND RVs MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE STREET.

๐Ÿšซ No part of any vehicle, boat, trailer, or RV may hang over or extend into the street.

๐Ÿšง PLEASE USE CAUTION AFTER ROADS REOPEN ๐Ÿšง
Once chip sealing is complete and the road has reopened, please drive slowly and use extra caution. Loose gravel will be present on the roadway. Slowing down will help keep everyone safe and reduce the chance of loose rock damaging vehicles.

Please help our crews complete this work safely and efficiently by making sure the scheduled streets are completely clear.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while we work to improve our City streets!

๐Ÿš› Community Update โ€“ Garbage Collection Service

The City of Weiser would like to let everyone know that starting August 10th, due to currently having only one garbage truck driver, we will be moving to once-a-week garbage pickup until further notice.

We understand this may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this staffing challenge and continue providing the best service possible to our community.

A reminder that the City also offers our Adopt-A-Truck Program for a variety of hauling services, including:
๐Ÿ—‘๏ธ Household garbage

๐Ÿšจ POOL CLOSURE NOTICE ๐Ÿšจ

Due to poor air quality caused by wildfire smoke, the Weiser City Pool is closed until further notice to protect the health and safety of our staff and patrons.

We encourage everyone to limit outdoor exposure until air quality improves, especially children, older adults, and anyone with heart or lung conditions.

We will monitor air quality daily and provide updates as conditions change. Our goal is to reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we put the health and safety of our community first. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves during this smoky weather.

โšก How Your City Power System Works โšก
Have you ever noticed your lights blink or your power go off for just a few seconds and then come right back on? Here's why.
The City of Weiser maintains and operates its own electric distribution system. We purchase our electricity from the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), and it is delivered to our community over Idaho Power's transmission lines to their substation. The City of Weiser has no control over the substation. The substation is owned and operated by Idaho Power. Once the electricity reaches our system, City of Weiser crews distribute it safely to homes and businesses throughout the community.
Our electrical system is designed with automatic safety protection. If something comes into contact with a power lineโ€”such as a tree branch, squirrel, bird, or other objectโ€”the system will automatically shut off power for a brief moment to protect the equipment and, most importantly, the safety of our line crews.
The system will then automatically attempt to restore power. If the object has fallen clear of the line, your power will come back on and continue operating normally.
If the obstruction remains, the system will make up to three attempts to restore power. If it still detects the problem after the third attempt, the power will remain off until our crews can safely locate and remove the cause.
Many people ask why we can't always tell what caused a brief outage. The answer is simple: if the object falls away during the automatic restoration, the system has successfully cleared the fault, leaving no visible evidence for our crews to find. We only know the exact cause when the outage remains and our crews can locate the object or damaged equipment.
These automatic protection devices are an important part of keeping our electrical system safe, reliable, and protecting both the public and the dedicated employees who work on our power lines.
Thank you for your patience and understanding whenever you experience a brief blink or temporary outage. These safety features are working exactly as they were designed to keep our community's electric system operating safely.
