WEST WARWICK, R.I. — The West Warwick Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of a new Advanced Life Support (ALS) rescue unit, Rescue 3, was activated on July 1, 2026.

Rescue 3 is based at Station 4 on Cowesett Avenue and has been strategically implemented as an Impact Rescue to enhance emergency medical response during the department's busiest times of the day.
The unit is staffed Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., when emergency call volume has been evaluated to be at its highest. By placing an additional ALS rescue in service during these peak hours, the department will be better positioned to respond quickly to medical emergencies, reduce response times, and maintain coverage throughout the Town of West Warwick.
The addition of Rescue 3 represents our continued commitment to providing the highest level of emergency medical care to our residents and visitors. By analyzing call volume and deploying resources when they are needed most, we can improve service delivery and ensure our firefighters and emergency medical technicians are ready to meet the community's needs.
As an Advanced Life Support unit, Rescue 3 is staffed by highly trained firefighters/ emergency medical technicians capable of providing advanced prehospital medical care, including cardiac monitoring, advanced airway management, medication administration, and other life-saving interventions.
The implementation of Rescue 3 reflects the department's ongoing efforts to adapt to increasing demand for emergency medical services while maintaining efficient and effective fire and EMS operations.
The West Warwick Fire Department remains dedicated to protecting the lives and property of the community through professional emergency response, public education, fire prevention initiatives, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
