We’d love for our military spouses to attend. This year’s annual convention will be one for the books!

Military spouses are the backbone of our military community, providing unwavering support while navigating the unique challenges of military life. That’s why AFSA is proud to partner with the Military Family Institute to host The Ascent: Military Spouse Gathering during Summit week in Orlando.

From August 9–11, military spouses will have the opportunity to invest in themselves through leadership development, personal growth, meaningful connections, and a supportive community that understands the military journey.

Thanks to the generosity of the Air & Space Forces Aid Society (AFAS), a limited number of sponsored seats are available.

The best mornings start with service!

In support of the K**b Fair 5K, AFSA volunteers helped set up the event and kept the energy going by encouraging runners, distributing medals, food, and refreshments to participants while a few of our members laced up and ran the race.

It’s always inspiring to see organizations come together to make a difference. Shoutout to Team RWB Warrensburg for showing up and showing out!

Team RWB is a nonprofit focused on connecting veterans, service members, military families, and supporters through fitness, wellness, and community. One of their priorities is combating veteran isolation and strengthening community through shared activity and camaraderie—keeping that sense of belonging and mission many service members value after military.

Today we met with Pettis County Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza over lunch to discuss legislative priorities and advocacy efforts affecting Missouri’s military service members, veterans, and their families.

As we continue to advocate, educate, and legislate, these conversations help build relationships and advance initiatives that support those who wear the uniform and those who have already served.

We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate and continue moving important issues forward.

Supporting veterans and strengthening community partnerships isn’t just something we talk about — it’s something we do! It was a heartwarming experience volunteering at the Missouri Veterans Home, engaging with civic leaders, and spending quality time with our veterans.

As we continue advocating for those who served, we are supporting legislation aimed at improving access, care, and outcomes for our veteran community:

H.R. 3183 — SAFE STEPS for Veterans Act of 2025

H.R. 1336 — Veterans National Traumatic Brain Injury Treatment Act

H.R. 1107 — Protecting Veteran Access to Telemedicine Services Act of 2025

H.R. 2303 — BVA Attorney Retention and Backlog Reduction Act

We continue to educate, advocate, and stand alongside our veterans every step of the way.

Day of Honor and Remembrance

AFSA Chapter 881 is proud to support the Missouri Veterans Home Day of Honor and Remembrance.

In partnership with Missouri Veterans Home board members, VFW Auxiliary members, and veterans, our volunteers helped prepare luminaries, stuff sandbags, repair buddy poppies, check lighting, and pre-assemble signs during prep day.

Today, our team helped set up the luminary drive, shared WWII stories with attendees, and spent meaningful time with residents and their families during the formal program.

Service, remembrance, and community remain at the heart of what we do.
