The Midwest Cover Crop Initiative is a great way to help producers pay for planting cover crops and improve soil health! Applications are due March 28th. For more information: https://www.nfwf.org/programs/midwest-cover-crop-initiative

To apply online: https://www.nfwf.org/programs/midwest-cover-crop-initiative/midwest-cover-crop-initiative-2022-request-proposals

We’re excited to announce NFWF is partnering with ADM and USDA's NRCS to accelerate adoption of cover crops in the Midwest. We are currently requesting proposals for projects that will increase acres of cover crops in corn, soybean and wheat systems by providing farmers with technical and financial support. Approximately $2.5 million in grant funding is available.

This fund seeks to help farmers navigate agronomic, economic and social factors that often pose barriers to adoption of cover crops and other soil-health practices. Grantees will help farmers plan and implement voluntary strategies for planting cover crops and facilitate multi-year financial assistance contracts. This work will enhance wildlife, soil health, greenhouse gas reduction and water resources while providing economic benefits to participating farmers.

Proposals are due March 28. NFWF will host a webinar on February 23 to discuss this funding opportunity. Learn more and apply! https://loom.ly/sOV-N7I

Ecosystem Services and Upcoming Soil Health Workshop

One of the questions producers are starting to ask is if there is money to be made with soil health, carbon sequestration, and other ecosystem services. There is a complex relationship between humans and the environment. Humans influence the environment and the environment provides humans with benefits, such as clean air, clean water, a stable climate, productive soils, etc. The services provided to humans by the environment are commonly referred to as ecosystem services....
