Over the past few days, members of The Bayard School team have been fully engaged in meaningful professional learning as we continue investing in the success of our students.

Our team attended AVID Professional Development in Norfolk, Virginia, where we deepened our understanding of how to intentionally embed WICOR strategies across all content areas. Our goal is not simply to "do AVID," but to build systems that prepare every student for college, career, and life. Through intentional instructional practices and strong horizontal and vertical alignment across every grade level, we are committed to creating engaging, rigorous learning experiences that empower all students to succeed.

Professional growth never stops because our students deserve our very best.

This week, members of our Bayard team participated in the 2nd Annual Delaware AVID Learning Consortium, engaging in two days of meaningful professional learning and collaboration.

Our educators attended sessions such as Cultivating Writing Schoolwide, Creating Engaging and Rigorous Classrooms, Career and Technical Education: Developing Employability Skills, and leadership-focused workshops. These learning opportunities provided valuable strategies and resources that will help strengthen teaching and learning for all students.

We are proud of our staff's commitment to continuous growth and excited to see these new ideas brought back to our classrooms as we prepare for another successful school year!

📢 Exciting Uniform Updates for the 2026–2027 School Year! 📢

The Bayard School is introducing an updated uniform policy to foster school pride, professionalism, and safety across our community!

👕 Grades 1–4: Gray/navy polo with the official Bayard logo & khaki bottoms.
🧥 Grades 5–8: Gray/navy blazer over a white collared button-down shirt & khaki bottoms.

To support our families, Bayard will provide free of charge:
2 polos with logo (Grades 1–4) or 2 blazers with logo (Grades 5–8)
1 official hoodie & 1 quarter-zip for spirit days
1 clear backpack for every student 🎒

Families are responsible for purchasing standard khaki bottoms, button-down shirts, and closed-toe shoes (black, navy, or burgundy). Please note that denim, crocs, slides, and non-clear backpacks will not be permitted.

Some of the Bayard team had the incredible opportunity to attend House Mania at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia! We left feeling inspired, energized, and even more excited about the work ahead.

Our team is hard at work planning Bayard's House System, and we can't wait to bring the excitement, sense of belonging, and positive school culture that it fosters to our students and staff. This is just the beginning, and we are thrilled to get started as we kick off the new school year!

Christina School District's Summer Cafeteria Crew will be participating in the 2026 Summer Food Service Program, which will be offered at seven Christina schools. The federally-funded program provides free breakfasts and lunches during the summer months and will be available Monday through Thursday at the sites listed below.
All children 18 years of age and under are eligible to receive NO COST breakfast and lunch. No need to apply for the program - just bring yourself and enjoy tasty and nutritious meals.
