Another inspiring day at the UNLV Summer Enrichment Program!

Our students explored the intersection of history, science, innovation, and creativity through an engaging visit to the Atomic Museum, where they gained insight into the discoveries and technologies that have shaped our world.

Back on campus, students immersed themselves in hands-on learning, exploring 3D modeling, virtual design, and object creation while developing skills that are driving the future of entertainment, engineering, and design.

The day concluded with meaningful conversations and connections with current UNLV students, giving our scholars a firsthand look at college life, academic opportunities, and future career pathways.

Our overnight stay at the Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko was far more than a hotel experience. It was an opportunity to immerse ourselves in Japanese culture and traditions.

Dressed in traditional kimono, our students and chaperones embraced a custom often enjoyed at Japanese ryokan (traditional inns). Some added their own flair while honoring the cultural significance of the attire, creating a memorable blend of tradition and personal expression.

Dinner itself became an experience. Gathered together around the table, we prepared portions of our own meal, enjoying a traditional Japanese dining style that emphasizes fresh ingredients, presentation, and community.

After spending night at the hotel, we spent time soaking up the region surrounding Mount Fuji, our travelers experienced something deeper than tourism. We experienced the importance of being in the moment.

Highlights include behind-the-scenes access with Cirque du Soleil technicians, networking with themed entertainment leaders, exploring immersive attractions like Omega Mart, MEOW World and experiencing the world-renowned production of MYSTERE .

An unforgettable week of creativity, collaboration, and career exploration as our students discover how art, technology, and storytelling come together to create extraordinary experiences.

Today our Cab Calloway travelers stepped back in time with a visit to Kamakura, Japan. We explored the historic Hachimangu Shrine, surrounded by centuries of culture, tradition, and natural beauty. Students then had the opportunity to discover Kamakura on their own before gathering to visit the iconic Great Buddha of Kamakura—a breathtaking symbol of Japan’s rich heritage and resilience. Another unforgettable day of learning, exploration, and global connection! 🇯🇵

Our Cab Calloway travelers have jumped right into the sights, sounds, and culture of Tokyo!

From exploring the historic grounds of Sensō-ji and the treasures of the Tokyo National Museum to experiencing the energy of Akihabara Electric Town and sharing a traditional sumo-style hot pot dinner, Day 1 was filled with discovery.

Day 2 took us from the immersive digital art experience of teamLab Planets TOKYO to the peaceful beauty of Meiji Shrine. We explored the fashion and culture of Harajuku and ended the day crossing the world-famous Shibuya Crossing.

What stands out most isn’t just where we’ve gone—it’s how our students have embraced every experience with curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm. We are proud of the way they continue to represent Cab Calloway School of the Arts on the global stage.

The memories are being made, and the adventure is just beginning.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the Cab Calloway High School Spirit Marching Band Boosters Club for their continued support of the Spirit Marching Band and Instrumental Music Program.

As part of our end-of-year celebrations, we recognized Mr. Jim Tharp for an extraordinary 35 years of dedicated service to Cab Calloway School of the Arts and music education.

In honor of this milestone, Mr. Tharp was surprised with the addition of a golf cart to the Marching Band program, which will support on-site band camp operations, school events, competitions and parades when appropriate.

This special gift was made possible through the generosity and support of the Cab Calloway Band Boosters. It serves as a meaningful tribute to Mr. Tharp’s unwavering commitment to our students, the instrumental music program, and the continued success of the Cab Calloway Spirit Marching Band.

Thank you to the Band Boosters for helping us celebrate and recognize the individuals who make such a lasting impact on our school community.
