Brandywine Creek State Park

Brandywine Creek State Park The rolling meadows, old growth forest, and freshwater marshes at Brandywine Creek State Park are reminiscent of an agricultural landscape and way of life.

This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800's. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography.

Session 2 of our Wilderness Survivor series is underway on August 20th. 🎒🥾
Join us at the Amphitheater as we go over the principles of Leave No Trace and how to properly pack a bag for long and short hikes through public lands! This program is for all folks with all different kinds of experience from new found nature explorers or for your seasoned adventurer everyone will take home something new! Program is $8 per individual, includes a hot dog for campfire afterwards. Register online at DEStateParks.com.

Give a warm send off to summer this Saturday at Bug Days of Summer! 🐞🎶

This Saturday, August 15th join us at Hawk Watch Hill 5PM to 8PM for live music, food from local venders, table exhibits from community conservation organizations, and bug themed crafts and games! We have a jampacked night planned we just need you to buzz on over to Brandywine Creek. Free with paid park admission. This event is sponsored in part by the Delaware Division of Arts.

Want to go camping this fall but don't know where to start? 🤔🏕️
Fear not! Brandywine Creek has got your back with their Wilderness Survivors Series. This 4 part series will have you tying up tarps, building fires, orienteering the landscape, and much more. This Thursday join us to go over a few shelter building knots as well as basic tent construction. We end each session with a campfire and hot dog! Dive into the history of the Indian Springs Farm as our Naturalists guide us to the remains of structures that once speckled our park. Free to all history enthusiasts and curious park goers! ✨New this month✨ Join us on our Wilderness Survival Series starting on August 6th!

We also have our classics like the Indian Springs Farm Hike on the 8th, another Canoe Trip down the Brandywine on the 22nd, our Monthly Bird hike last Saturday of the month, and back from its slumber join us for our Full moon hike Friday, August 28th celebrating the Sturgeon Moon!

Its Intern Appreciation Day! 🎉🎉🎉
With their wide variety of experience and expertise these three interns have made not only our summer programming possible but enjoyable and rememberable for our camps and public programs. Our interns here at BCSP have been putting in the time to upgrade our Nature Center displays, participating in our Bluebird Monitoring Project, creating fun camp activities for our campers, reimagining existing programs, and so much more. We will be sad to see them off soon but with new tools and experience, we can't wait to see what they will do next!

There is some BUZZZ going around in our pollinator garden... and its that these native plants create the most exquisite menu for our our pollinator friends. Although the blooms wont be lasting much longer once fall comes around our pollinator garden will continue to be THE place for food and shelter for our bug friends all year long.
