Congratulations to the Red Clay Education Association!

More than 1,450 teachers and specialists in the Red Clay School District recently celebrated a major union victory when their school board approved a one-year deal for locally funded pay raises, stipends, and bonuses.

The deal includes a 4% pay increase on the locally funded portion of their salaries, plus an extra $500 added at each step of the salary scale. Eligible Red Clay teachers and specialists also will receive on-scale longevity bonuses ranging between $200 and $1,500, depending on their years of service. Under the deal, eligible, dual-certified educators who teach or provide educational services to students with IEPs also will receive an annual stipend of $400 in addition to current special education compensation plans.

The MOU signed by the Red Clay school board and RCEA includes a commitment to reopen negotiations on a new contract no later than March 2027.

That will put RCEA on roughly the same contract schedule as the Red Clay Paraprofessional Association and the Red Clay Secretaries Association, whose current deals also run until 2027. The Red Clay Food Service Workers Association, meanwhile, are currently negotiating a new contract to replace their current deal that expires on August 15.
