Big thanks to Northeast EVOC-CPR Training for spending the past few days with us going over the safe operating procedures for our new ATV 1, which is now officially in service.
While ATV 1 will be utilized for a variety of community events including graduations, Flag Day celebrations, and parades, its biggest impact will be during emergency operations where our larger apparatus cannot access certain areas.
Over the years, we have had incidents involving injured hikers and individuals requiring assistance on Horn Pond Mountain and other wooded areas throughout the city. ATV 1 will be an essential tool in helping us safely and efficiently reach those locations and provide the best possible service to our community.
In addition to rescue operations, ATV 1 will also play an important role during forestry fires and brush fires throughout the city, allowing us to transport hose, equipment, and personnel into areas that are difficult or impossible to access with traditional fire apparatus.
We’re excited to add this capability to our department and grateful for the training that helps ensure we operate it safely and effectively.
