Congratulations to the Hylton Performing Arts Center for building a $15 million endowment.

A $15 million endowment is more than a number; it’s a promise that the Hylton will be here for generations to come. It gives the Center a steady foundation that doesn’t rise and fall with any single season or budget cycle. The Hylton can plan boldly, bring extraordinary artists to our stage and keep ticket prices within reach for working families.

Today, I joined OmniRide and community partners at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building to celebrate the completion of a newly renovated bus stop.

Public transportation plays an important role in how our residents get to work, school, appointments, and the places that matter most. Investments in our transportation infrastructure are investments in the people and communities that rely on it every day.

Thank you to OmniRide, AARP, and everyone who helped bring this project together. I’m excited to see this new space serve our community for years to come.

Mayor Michelle Parks is a trailblazer who served the City of Manassas with strength, grace, and love. She’s been such an inspiration to me as a chart my course as Chair of Prince William County.

I attended her last meeting as Mayor to wish her well as she begins her next chapter.

Willing Warriors provides a cost-free retreat for injured service members or disabled veterans, as well as their families. Its Co-Founders Shirley and John Dominick who are true visionaries.

I first met their Executive Director Sarah Ford, Chef Larry Zilliox, and Board Member Shaun Anderson in 2023. I had pledged to fight alongside the late Gainesville Supervisor Bob Weir for a real estate tax exemption that would allow them to expand their programming - a promise that I was able to keep during my first year as Chair.

Attending their annual gala reminded me how much impact the tax exemption meant to them.

There are so many several members and veterans living in and around Prince William County. Honoring their service means more than praising their heroism. For the ones that need assistance, we must do all we can to support them and their loved ones.

Earlier this month, Prince William County proclaimed September as Sickle Cell Awareness Month. Today, our community came together to put that commitment into action.

It was a meaningful morning honoring the life and legacy of Candis King, raising awareness, and standing alongside families affected by sickle cell disease.

Thank you to Secretary Candi Mundon King, the Prince William County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and the many community partners who continue to turn Candis’s legacy into a source of hope and action for others.

Candis’s story reminds us that even in loss, there is the power to bring people together and create lasting change.
