Social Media Policy for Washington County Library Customers

Policy
Washington County Library offers social software tools including Facebook, YouTube, Flickr and Twitter for informational and recreational purposes. Library social software tools provide a limited (or designated) public forum to share ideas, opinions and information about library-related subjects and issues. Library social software

is intended to create a welcoming and inviting online space where library customers will find useful and entertaining information and can interact with library staff and other library customers. Comments are moderated by library staff and the library reserves the right to remove comments that are unlawful or off topic. Rules for commenting
Site visitors who post comments to the site are required to sign their real names to any postings. Posts containing the following are against county rules and will be deleted before posting or removed by library staff:
1. Comment demeaning other people
3. Comment that is libelous/slanderous
4. Inaccuracies
5. Comments not related to the specific content of the site
6. Comments on elections
7. Solicitations of commerce
8. Sexual content or links to sexual content

All Washington County Library branches will be closed on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth. Associate libraries in Stillwater and Bayport will also be closed.

You can still explore our digital library, available on the Libby app, anytime for e‑books, audiobooks, and magazines.

Summer is full of little surprises at Washington County Library, including some unexpected wildlife visitors.

Our staff at Wildwood Library said it best:

"Come find the magic hiding in the milkweed at Wildwood! The monarch caterpillars are busy growing, and the garden is waiting for you to explore as part of your Summer Adventure. Spot the tiny stripes, then enjoy the sunshine on the patio with a good book or magazine. You never know what you might discover."

A Washington County Master Gardener counted six monarch caterpillars this week, and they’re getting bigger every day.

The pollinator garden is one of Wildwood Library’s hidden gems. Recent visitors have also included a turtle and even a surprise deer sighting.

Park Grove Library construction continues to move forward, and it's amazing how much has already been done.

Watch the latest timelapse to see how the site has transformed in just a few weeks.

In recent weeks, crews have finished installing power, gas, water, and sewer lines. They've also prepared the site and parking lot for the next phase of construction.

The foundation for the new building is starting to take shape, with work completed on the south wall and part of the east wall. More foundation work will continue this week.

During construction, temporary library services are available at the Cottage Grove Service Center.

What a beautiful morning for storytime in the park!

More than 80 children and caregivers joined us at Ojibway Park in Woodbury today to read, sing, dance, and play together. We shared stories, sang songs, enjoyed rhymes, and even cooled off with popsicles after storytime.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make our first outdoor storytime of the summer such a success.

Missed it? Storytime at Ojibway Park returns every other Friday throughout the summer. We hope to see you at the next one.

Looking for a fun way to keep kids reading this summer? Try "read-alongs" in Libby!

These digital picture books and early readers combine narration with highlighted text, so children can listen to the story and follow the words on the page as they are read aloud.
