🐾 Kenzie 🐾
We are so happy to say… Kenzie is HOME. ❤️
Kenzies story isn't ours to share, but Kenzie isn't just a dog, not just the family pet, she means more to her dad than we could have ever thought. 🥹
Saturday evening, Taylor Gordon called Sarah Jean in a panic after Kenzie went missing. At the same time, Sarah was already on her way to West Middlesex, PA to search for another lost dog. Sarah immediately called Paul Groves and said, “Get to Cornersburg ASAP.” Paul was there within a half hour and started searching right away.
Sarah left PA with only a couple drone batteries remaining and headed straight to Cornersburg to fly. We had a Ring camera sighting, but despite searching from the sky and the family driving around on the ground, Kenzie was nowhere to be found.
Sarah stayed out until around midnight and was back out again by 7 AM. Unfortunately, the weather was warming up quickly, making thermal flying conditions difficult. We decided to return later that evening.
Just as Sarah was loading up that evening, another sighting came in, this time in a completely different area. Again, we searched by drone but couldn’t locate Kenzie. Sarah did spot a dog that looked similar to her but wasn’t fully confident it was Kenzie. But that was Kenzie and Sarah continued to go back to that same spot, Sarah being so new to flying she called Paul to come assist because she wasn't confident in herself. Which we hope changes!
At one point, Paul and Sarah looked at each other and said, “Hey… two drones are better than one.” They searched together, both drones in the air. After hours of searching everywhere, we decided to pack it up for the night and wait for morning.
Before leaving, a family member put food out that we gave him, and Sarah had a feeling: “Let me go back up one more time.”
That’s when she SPOTTED KENZIE on the drone.
One second she was there… the next she was gone. Sarah still wasn’t completely confident it was her, but it WAS. ❤️
Sarah continued flying the area for another hour, but Kenzie vanished again. We set a trap and a live-feed camera, but nothing. 😔
Early the next morning, we went back out and flew again with no sign of her. We set another live feed in a field where she had been seen… still nothing.
But the best part of this entire story?
Most families wait for us to do the searching, we ALWAYS encourage owners to continue driving around and looking themselves, especially during times when drones are less useful. Kenzie’s family never stopped. They kept searching, kept driving, kept fighting to bring their girl home.
And THAT is what ultimately led to Kenzie being caught safely. ❤️
Had we not spotted her the night before on the drone, both the family and our team would have been searching in the completely wrong area. This truly was a TEAM effort, the family, the neighbors, the Facebook shares, the sightings, and the teamwork between everyone involved.
Sarah also promises she’ll get better at taking videos and pictures from the sky. 😂 Truthfully, it just never crosses her mind because her only focus is getting these dogs home safely. And honestly? We love that about her.
Welcome home, Kenzie. ❤️🐾
