Woodard... 60 Years of Excellence!
🎉 Throwback Thursday 🎉

This school year, Woodard Jr. High proudly celebrates 60 years of Roadrunner tradition! Since opening our doors in 1966, generations of students, staff, and families have helped shape the incredible legacy that makes Woodard so special.

Today we're taking a trip back to 1980 with this amazing photo of our Woodard Band marching in a parade. A special thank you to Mr. Bill Murray for sharing this piece of Roadrunner history with us!

Were you a Woodard student or staff member? We'd love to celebrate our 60th Anniversary by sharing your favorite memories, photos, yearbooks, newspaper clippings, or stories from your time at Woodard.

Please email your memories to Mrs. Alonzo at [email protected] or send them to us through Facebook Messenger. Your memories may be featured in future Throwback Thursday posts as we celebrate six decades of Roadrunner pride!

Here's to 60 years of excellence, and many more to come! ❤️💙

At Woodard Jr. High, we are proud to be Your AAA School...
Where Academics, Athletics, and the Arts Matter!

We believe every Roadrunner deserves a place to belong, grow, and thrive.

📚 Academics
Woodard is proud to be an AVID National Demonstration School, the only school in Yuma County with this distinction. Fewer than 250 schools nationwide are recognized as AVID National Demonstration Schools, highlighting the highest level of implementation of the AVID College and Career Readiness System. AVID helps students build the skills needed for success in high school, college, and career through organization, collaboration, critical thinking, and self-advocacy.

🏆 Athletics
We are proud to be back-to-back Southern Yuma County Interscholastic Association (SYCIA) Overall League Champions, earning more trophies than any other middle school in Yuma County.

🎭 The Arts
Students shine in four levels of band, orchestra, choir, art, and dance: building creativity, confidence, and expression in and out of the classroom. In addition, our Roadrunners participate in county events such as parades, Honor Band and Choir, and perform at local events.

❤️💚House System💙🖤
Every student belongs to one of our Houses, building a strong culture of belonging and school pride. Our house system promotes friendship, courage, giving, and dreaming big, while encouraging connection, leadership, and positive competition across campus.

💙❤️ 6th Grade Experience
Families can choose the pathway that best fits their child:
🔴 Red Path (Traditional)– structured middle school experience with strong academic foundations
🔵 Blue Path (Innovative)– hands-on, collaborative learning focused on creativity and real-world problem solving

At Woodard, we don’t just prepare students for the next grade; we prepare them for life. !
