With all the busyness of Open Houses and Orientations, we almost forgot our first fall athletics update! Go Chix! Go Dux! Go Zeeland!

⛳ZE girls golf had two competitions last week, finishing 2nd at the Tarry Cutter Invite on Tuesday and placing 10th out of 21 teams Friday at TK Invite
⚽ZE boys soccer went 1-1 on the week with a 7-0 win over Kenowa Hills and a loss to West Ottawa on Saturday
🎾ZE boys tennis had a busy week going 2-0-1 in Ludington, 2-0 in Glen Lake, and 1-1 at a home double dual on Saturday
🏐ZE girls volleyball went 2-0 at a home quad Wednesday and won the Cadillac Invite on Saturday

🏊🏽‍♀️Girls swim/dive had a dual against Detroit Mercy on Friday and lost 123-63. The dual gave a number of swimmers their STATE cuts!
🤽🏿‍♂️Boys water polo finished 3-1 this weekend at the Ann Arbor Early Bird Invite with wins against Thomas Worthington, Birmingham Seaholm and St. Xavier with a loss to Ann Arbor Pioneer

⛳ZW girls golf finished 18th at the Gull Lake Invitational and 20th at TK this week.
⚽ZW boys soccer took down visiting West Ottawa, 1-0, in the programs first ever game at the new complex!
🎾ZW boys tennis went 2-2 on the week with wins over TK and Dewitt
🏐ZW girls volleyball went 3-2 at the Grand Haven invite earning wins over Dewitt, Livonia Stevenson and Plainwell

Creekside Middle School welcomed students and families for orientation, with plenty of excitement, staff and student-led tours, time to explore the building, and a special welcome that included families new to ZPS.

It was a great afternoon of getting comfortable, getting excited, and getting ready for September 2!

Z Catalist collects unused and surplus materials from throughout our community and puts them back to work in Zeeland classrooms at NO cost to our teachers.

And teachers are using it! From classroom and art supplies to creative resources like ZDoh, a HOMEMADE play dough alternative that gives old crayons a whole new purpose, Z CataLIST is finding smart, practical ways to turn what we already have into something useful for students.

Z Catalist and founder Jennifer Kroll were recently featured in the news for the creative way they’re helping Zeeland teachers turn unused supplies into classroom resources.

This is the kind of thing we LOVE about Zeeland: people coming up with a great idea and finding a way to support our teachers and schools!

Jennifer Kroll founded Z CataList, a community organization that collects unused office supplies, art supplies, and other school materials, then makes them available to Zeeland teachers through an online catalog with free delivery to their schools. 🚌 The wheels on the bus are getting ready to go ’round and ’round... because the first day of school is less than two weeks away!

And there’s a familiar face taking the wheel of our Transportation Department. Please join us in congratulating Joe Michmerhuizen, our new Director of Transportation!

A 1996 ZPS graduate, Joe returned to the district in 2024 as Assistant Director of Transportation following a 25-year career in local law enforcement. Now he’s leading the team that helps get thousands of ZPS students safely to and from school each day. Welcome, Mr. Michmerhuizen!
