Today, we signed another contract under the 2026 MATRA Fund this time with Platforma Civikos.
The project aims to further strengthen data protection in Kosovo, with particular attention to the police, prosecution, journalists, and civil society organizations. We look forward to another successful partnership with CIVIKOS and to seeing the project deliver meaningful and sustainable results. 🇳🇱 🤝 🇽🇰

Ambassador Karin Boven together with Center for Social Initiatives NGO signed the contract for the MATRA-funded project aiming to empower 25 young adults with capacity building training programs in civic activism. We are looking forward to successful implementation and meaningful participation of the wide range of women and men in all the training programs. Good Luck!

Yesterday, our team spent part of the working day outside the office, visiting two remarkalble businesses whose stories are as inspiring as their products.

From Oriental Mushrooms in Lipjan, where premium Korean King Oyster mushrooms are grown in Kosovo and exported to the Netherlands from where they reach consumers in 29 countries, we went to Pivdzan Brewery in Gracanica, where a passion for brewing has grown into a successful family business producing an award-winnig IPA beer.

Despite operating in completely different industries, these companies are united by the same ingredients for success: passion, vision, perseverance and determination to turn an idea into a thriving business.

Empowering Women in the Labour Market 💪

The Embassy of the Netherlands in Kosovo team was thrilled to join the conclusion of the successful ‘Empowering Women in the Labour Market’ project. A project dedicated to helping Kosovo women access opportunities, build confidence and thrive.

Together with the NGOs Qendra Kosovare për Studime Gjinore and QIKA, more than 100 unemployed women and girls were supported through tailored training and capacity-building programmes that strengthened their skills and readiness for the labour market. At the same time, over 100 women employed in the private sector took part in gender awareness training, helping foster more inclusive and equitable workplaces.

Along the way the project became a safe-space where women from different backgrounds came together to connect, exchange ideas and inspire and motivate one another. We discussed the gender employment gap, shared personal experiences, built networks and explored how to ensure women’s voices are represented - whether at the local, central or national decision-making level.

The conversations have started, partnerships have grown stronger, the foundations for lasting change have been laid: there’s still more to do.

Our Embassy 🇳🇱 team visited North Mitrovica to meet with our MATRA implementing partners from BIRN Kosovo and ACDC and the Kosovo Police as part of the project "Promoting Community Engagement, Public Safety, and Women Empowerment for a Resilient Security Sector in Kosovo."
The visit focused on reviewing progress, exchanging perspectives, and reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening trust between communities and institutions, enhancing public safety, and promoting inclusive security for all communities in the North of Kosovo.
We thank our partners and the Kosovo Police for the productive discussions and continued cooperation.
