Ward 1 IDP & Budget Consultation Session 📍

Mayor cllr Vania Davids engaged with the community on key developmental matters affecting Ward 1. During the session, the Mayor unpacked the capital expenditure breakdown, highlighting plans to upgrade gravel streets to paving in Venterstad as part of ongoing infrastructure development.

The Mayor further unpacked the municipal budget and stressed the importance of residents and departments paying municipal rates so that urgent road and infrastructure challenges can be addressed. “Kufuneka sonke sidlale indima yethu kuphuhliso loluntu,” she said.

Despite unfavourable weather conditions, the community of Eureka in Ward 4 turned out to engage in the ongoing IDP Outreach Programme led by Mayor Cllr Vania Davids. The Mayor was welcomed by Ward Councillor Vusumzi Busakhwe, as residents gathered to receive updates on municipal progress and service delivery matters affecting their daily lives. Community members actively engaged leadership on key concerns, including the condition of roads within the area, with responses and commitments receiving positive reception from residents.

One of the major discussion points during the session was the progress and future plans regarding the Danie Craven Stadium, which drew interest from the community. Stakeholders from the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) as well as Human Settlements were also present to support the engagement and provide insight on matters within their respective sectors.

Power Outage Update‼️

Maletswai residents are advised that the power outage affecting Cole and Queen Terrace Street is due to an overloaded power line. A crane truck is required to install a replacement transformer in order to restore electricity supply. The technical team is attending to the matter, and further updates will be communicated as work progresses.
