📢 APPLICATIONS OPEN - 2027 NURSE TRAINING PROGRAMMES 🩺🎓

The Northern Cape Department of Health, through Henrietta Stockdale Nursing College, invites prospective students to apply for the 2027 Nurse Training Programme.

Two programmes are available:

🩺 Diploma in Nursing (R.171)
• NQF Level 6
• 3-year programme
• Minimum APS/Matriculation score: 24

🩺 Higher Certificate in Nursing (R.169)
• NQF Level 5
• 1-year programme
• Minimum APS/Matriculation score: 20

📅 Closing date: 25 September 2026

📌 Important: Applications are strictly online via the e-Services portal:
https://www.eservices.gov.za/tonkana

Applicants must be from the Northern Cape and must meet all the prescribed admission requirements. Applicants currently registered elsewhere will not be accepted.

📄 Applicants must upload the required certified documents, including:
• South African ID
• NSC/Matric certificate
• Marriage/divorce certificate, where applicable
• Proof of residence from a local municipality or tribal authority

Successful applicants will apply for a bursary from the Northern Cape Department of Health and will be required to enter into an agreement with the Department.

[📍DAY 3 RECAP📸] Programme Tshwaraganang Continues Bringing Healthcare Closer to Communities

The Northern Cape Department of Health, in collaboration with Programme Tshwaraganang, continued its community outreach on Day 3, delivering essential healthcare services to the communities of Nourivier and Rooifontein in the Kamiesberg Sub-District.

Through this initiative, healthcare teams brought primary healthcare services directly to residents, ensuring that people living in remote areas can access quality care without the challenge of travelling long distances. Services included health screenings, consultations, medication dispensing, and health education to promote disease prevention and healthier communities.

Programme Tshwaraganang continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration in improving access to healthcare, strengthening preventative services, and ensuring that no community is left behind.

Together, we are building healthier communities by bringing healthcare closer to the people.

Programme Tshwaraganang Brings Health Education and Clinical Services to Kamiesberg 📸 Day 2

The Northern Cape Department of Health, through the Namakwa District, in partnership with the Area Military Health Unit, successfully continued Day 2 of Programme Tshwaraganang in the Kamiesberg Sub-District.

Health promotion and education sessions were conducted at Hoërskool Garies, JJ Lambert Primary School, and Kheis Primary School, where learners engaged with a multidisciplinary team comprising Social Work, Dietetics, Environmental Health, Psychology, and Oral Health professionals. The sessions focused on promoting healthy lifestyles, disease prevention, mental wellbeing, and oral health.

The programme was further strengthened through the participation of the Department of Social Development, South African Red Cross Society, and Sol Plaatjie University, who provided psychosocial support, youth development initiatives, and student volunteer services.

At the same time, the clinical team rendered essential healthcare services to community members at the Kheis Community Hall, ensuring residents had access to quality healthcare closer to where they live.

Programme Tshwaraganang continues to demonstrate the power of collaboration in improving access to healthcare, empowering communities through education, and promoting healthier, more resilient communities across the Namakwa District.

The Municipality and the local mining company has been busy tracking the fault in Koignaas. Due to the aging infrastructure the ringfeed remains a problem. We wish to inform that the fault has been found.

At this stage all material is available and Namakhoi Municipality has agreed to assist with the repairs tomorrow morning.

[📍 IN PICTURES 📸] NAMAKWA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND SA MILITARY HEALTH LAUNCH PROGRAMME TSHWARAGANANG

The Namakwa District Department of Health, in partnership with the Area Military Health Unit, officially launched Programme Tshwaraganang in the Kamiesberg Sub-District Municipality yesterday.

Taking place from 3 to 6 August 2026, the programme brings together the Northern Cape Department of Health, the Department of Basic Education, the Department of Social Development, the South African Red Cross Society and Caring for Sight to deliver integrated health and social services to communities across Kamiesberg.

Throughout the week, multidisciplinary teams will provide health education, disease prevention and screening services, awareness campaigns, psychosocial support, and youth engagement activities. The initiative aims to empower communities with the knowledge, support and resources needed to improve their health and wellbeing.

The launch in Kharkams marks the beginning of the Area Military Health Unit’s social responsibility programme in the Kamiesberg community, reaffirming a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships and bringing quality services closer to the people.

Mandela Maand program

Vandag het ons munisipale werkers, as deel van die **Mandela-program**, hul harte en hande beskikbaar gestel om 'n verskil in ons gemeenskap te maak.

🧹 Ons het die munisipale perseel skoongemaak om 'n netjiese en verwelkomende omgewing vir almal te skep.

🏥 Volwasse doeke is aan die plaaslike hospitaal oorhandig om ondersteuning te bied aan pasiënte wat dit die nodigste het.

🌿 Daarbenewens is verskeie areas in die dorp skoongemaak om ons omgewing skoner, veiliger en mooier vir almal te maak.

🍲 Kosvoorbereidings was ook gedoen deur munisipale amptenare by die kleuterskool in Kharkams.

Ons bedank elke munisipale werker en vrywilliger wat hul tyd en energie gegee het. Julle diens, omgee en toewyding weerspieël die gees van Nelson Mandela – om ander te dien en 'n positiewe verskil te maak.
