The Department of Health in Pixley Ka Seme District took a moment to honor the dedication, commitment, and the excellence in patient care provided by our nurses — more than a job, it's a calling. The event opened with a powerful sermon by Sr Moses; the room was filled with joy as they sang proudly.
The Deputy Chairperson of DENOSA, Mr P. Jack unpacked the theme for 2026 “Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives.” This theme emphasizes that enabling nurses through support, safety, and leadership is vital to improving global health outcomes and strengthening healthcare systems.
Key focus areas include:
✨ Structural Empowerment
✨ Lifesaving Impact
✨ Shaping the Future
✨ Removing Barriers
The nurses recited the nurses pledge, led by Sr M. Olifant (District Nurses Manager) —affirming their dedication to patient care, and engage in a traditional candle-lighting ceremony in memory of Florence Nightingale.
Mr T Shushu (CEO of De Aar hospital) closed off with words of encouragement: “If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for everything.” A nurse responds to the call, you comfort and heal those that are in dire need.
To the all the nurses in our district: Thank you for your tireless dedication to our community's health. You are true frontline heroes, you are the light and we appreciate everything you do. 🫡
