FOSTERING TRADE AND INVESTMENT THROUGH INTEGRITY

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is proud to participate in the 2026 Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show under the theme, "Fostering Trade and Investment." As Zambia works towards building a competitive and prosperous economy, transparency, accountability and integrity remain essential foundations for sustainable trade and investment.

Corruption undermines economic growth, discourages investment, distorts markets and deprives businesses and citizens of equal opportunities. By promoting ethical conduct and fighting corruption, we can create an environment where businesses thrive, investors have confidence and communities prosper.

The Commission continues to strengthen the fight against corruption through preventive measures, public education, investigations and the promotion of secure reporting mechanisms. The Online Anonymous Whistleblower System (OAWS) enables members of the public to report suspected corruption safely and confidentially from anywhere.

PHOTO FOCUS: Day 4 of the 98th Agricultural and Commercial Show was another exciting and engaging day at the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) stand, filled with fun, learning, and interactive activities with members of the public.

A key highlight of the day was the visit by the Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Patrick Kangwa, who took time to tour the ACC stand and interact with members of the public who had visited to learn more about the Commission's mandate and services.

Throughout the day, our team engaged showgoers through interactive quizzes aimed at raising awareness about corruption prevention and the role of the ACC. Participants walked away with a variety of branded promotional items after correctly answering questions on anti-corruption.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who visited the ACC stand today. Your enthusiasm, participation, and commitment to promoting integrity made the day a great success.

ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION PAYS FINAL TRIBUTE TO LATE THOMSON KHUZWAYO MAIMISA

Earlier today, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), led by Board Chairperson Hon. Justice Evans Hamaundu (Rtd) and Director General Mrs. Daphne P.S. Chabu, joined the family, friends, colleagues and members of the public in paying their final respects to the late Mr. Thomson Khuzwayo Maimisa, who passed away on 26th July 2026 in Choma, Southern Province were he served as a Senior Legal and Prosecution Officer.

The funeral service was held at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Lusaka, after which Mr. Maimisa was laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Speaking during the church service, ACC Board Chairperson Hon. Justice Evans Hamaundu (Rtd) paid tribute to Mr. Maimisa for his outstanding service to the Commission and the nation. He described him as a distinguished legal practitioner who served with professionalism, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law.

"Mr. Thomson Khuzwayo Maimisa distinguished himself through his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice and the rule of law. His dedication to the fight against corruption contributed significantly to the Commission's mandate of promoting integrity, safeguarding public resources, and advancing the attainment of a corruption-free Zambia. Mr. Maimisa has left an indelible mark on the Commission, and his legacy will continue to inspire us as we carry forward the important work to which he devoted his career," Hon. Justice Hamaundu said.

Mr. Maimisa will be remembered as a selfless, humble, and courageous advocate whose dedication to public service and the fight against corruption positively impacted the Commission and the country.
The Anti-Corruption Commission extends its deepest condolences to the Maimisa family, friends, and all those mourning this profound loss. The Commission remains grateful for Mr. Maimisa's invaluable contribution to the promotion of integrity and justice in Zambia.

May the soul of Mr. Thomson Khuzwayo Maimisa rest in eternal peace.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday participated in the launch of the 2025 Corruption Risk Assessment Report on the Implementation of the Social Cash Transfer Programme in Zambia, conducted by Transparency International Zambia (TIZ).

Speaking at the event, ACC Director General Mrs. Daphne Chabu said the Commission will carefully review the report's findings and recommendations to identify practical measures that will promote greater transparency, accountability, and responsiveness in the implementation of the Social Cash Transfer Programme.

Mrs. Chabu described the report as a testament to the shared commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the delivery of social protection programmes that support some of the country's most vulnerable citizens.

The Director General thanked TIZ for the invitation and for the strong partnership that continues to characterise the two institutions' joint efforts in the fight against corruption.

She also acknowledged the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), Norwegian Church Aid, DanChurchAid, and all cooperating partners whose support made the assessment possible.

According to the report, the highest corruption risk identified relates to the payment of funds to representatives of beneficiaries, also known as deputies, following the death of beneficiaries. The report attributes this risk to procedural delays in updating beneficiary status information, coupled with a policy that allows a deceased beneficiary to be replaced by a deputy or another eligible family member.

Anti- Corruption Commission Zambia (ACC) in partnership with UNDP Zambia yesterday conducted a media training workshop for journalists on whistleblower protection, ethical reporting and the Online Anonymous Whistleblower System (OAWS).

Officially opening the workshop, ACC Director General Mrs. Daphne Chabu described the media as one of the Commission's most strategic partners in promoting integrity, transparency and accountability. She urged journalists to uphold the highest standards of professionalism through accurate, balanced and fact-based reporting that builds public confidence.

Mrs. Chabu said responsible journalism not only exposes corruption but also safeguards the rights of all parties involved. She encouraged journalists to raise public awareness about whistleblower protection, the legal safeguards available and the reporting channels provided by the Commission and other relevant institutions.

She noted that the launch of the OAWS in 2024 demonstrates Government's commitment to providing safe, secure and accessible platforms for reporting corruption and other public interest violations.

Speaking at the same event, UNDP Assistant Resident Representative/Governance Advisor Mr. Gregory Saili said corruption remains one of the greatest obstacles to sustainable development as it diverts resources from essential public services, weakens institutions and erodes public trust. He urged journalists to verify information thoroughly, protect confidential sources and report responsibly to strengthen accountability.

Meanwhile, ACC Director Public Education Mrs. Queen Chibwe said increasing public awareness and strengthening confidence in whistleblower protection mechanisms are key to encouraging citizen participation and advancing the fight against corruption.

The initiative is supported by UNDP through the SDG Partnership Programme with the Government of the Republic of Korea as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen anti-corruption systems and advance Sustainable Development Goal 16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.

Anti- Corruption Commission Zambia (ACC) has inducted members of the Integrity Committee and the Integrity Committee Secretariat of the Registrar of Societies to strengthen integrity systems, accountability and corruption prevention within the institution.

Speaking during the workshop, ACC Director General Mrs. Daphne Chabu said corruption continues to undermine public trust, weaken institutions and hinder national development.

Mrs. Chabu emphasised that strong ethical leadership is essential in building institutions founded on integrity and transparency, calling on management to lead by example.

She further noted that effective Integrity Committees are critical in preventing corruption by identifying institutional vulnerabilities, promoting ethical conduct and supporting the implementation of anti-corruption measures.

The Director General urged committee members to apply the knowledge gained to effectively identify corruption risks and promote ethical conduct within their institution.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Mr. Dickson Matembo in a speech read on his behalf by the Director Planning Mr. Goodson Sinyenga called on the newly appointed committee members to identify corruption risk areas.

He encouraged them to recommend practical interventions that would enhance accountability, improve service delivery and reinforce public confidence in public institutions.

The induction forms part of the ACC's ongoing efforts to strengthen integrity systems and promote good governance in public institutions.
