INDIAN ASSOCIATION SHARJAH REPRESENTED AT SPECIAL INTERACTIVE SESSION AT CGI DUBAI
Adv. Y. A. Rahim, General Secretary of the Indian Association Sharjah, participated in a special interactive session held at the Consulate General of India, Dubai, on 24 September 2026.
The session brought together Hon’ble Smt. Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary (CPV), Ministry of External Affairs; Hon’ble Ambassador Dr. Deepak Mittal; and Hon’ble Consul General Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, for an interaction focusing on matters of importance to the Indian diaspora.
The discussions covered the challenges faced by Indians living abroad, particularly in the current geopolitical scenario, the Government of India’s diaspora policy for the next decade, strengthening the connection between the Indian diaspora and India, and preparations for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2027.
During the interaction, Adv. Y. A. Rahim raised the serious concern of exorbitant airfares on India–UAE routes, highlighting the financial burden that steep ticket prices place on expatriate families, particularly during peak travel periods.
He also spoke about various challenges faced by the Indian diaspora and stressed the importance of giving due consideration to the practical difficulties experienced by expatriate Indians and their families.
The participation of the Indian Association Sharjah provided an important opportunity to bring community concerns directly to the attention of senior representatives of the Government of India and to contribute to the wider discussion on strengthening engagement with the Indian diaspora.
Indian Association Sharjah remains committed to representing the concerns and aspirations of the Indian community and strengthening the bond between the diaspora and India.
