🏁 While the bikes and buggies were chasing glory at the Tatts Finke Desert Race today, the crew at ASVBB felt like the real winners! 🎉🚒
We were incredibly humbled to receive a generous $10,000 donation to help support our efforts in preventing and fighting bushfires across the Alice Springs region. 🌵🔥
This amazing contribution will help our volunteers continue training, maintaining equipment, and being ready when our community needs us most.
A huge thank you to everyone involved. Your support helps keep the wheels turning, the trucks rolling, and our volunteers ready for whatever Central Australia throws our way.

The ASVBB crew have our limited edition stubby coolers ready for action! Grab yours from our camp approximately 10km from the Start/Finish line, or keep an eye out for our GFU patrol units cruising between camp and Deep Well Station from Saturday through to Monday.

🚒🔥 While most people were settling in for the evening, three of our legends were rolling out to a fire on Larapinta Drive.
At the same time the rest of the crew have been busy helping prepare for the chaos, dust, and excitement that is the Finke Desert Race! 🏍️💨
From firefighting to event support our volunteers continue to prove that multitasking isn't just for smartphones. 📱➡️🚒
A huge shout out to all our members who keep stepping up whenever and wherever they're needed. We're incredibly proud of the dedication, teamwork and community spirit that makes ASVBB such an awesome brigade.

🏁 Dust, bikes, buggies... and hopefully not too many band-aids!
Our ASVBB crew took part in Finke-specific first aid training tonight with Warren, Sue & Jack from St John, brushing up on the skills needed for one of Central Australia's biggest events.
We're hoping for a safe race and a quiet first aid kit, but if things don't go to plan, our volunteers will be ready to help.

Our amazing Captain and Deputy Captain have teamed up on something super special for the little ones! They've created a fun colouring-in book that comes with a mini story all about what we do....so kids can learn, imagine, and get creative at the same time. 🖍️📖
From adventurous tales to colourful activities, this book gives children a chance to explore our world, one crayon stroke at a time. It's fun, educational and full of surprises - just like being part of the ASVBB family! 💙

Tonight’s training was basically “Pumps 101: Buttons, Valves & Trying Not To Spray Your Mate” 🚒💦
Members got hands-on learning what valve runs which line, how to crank up the pressure and how to use the different Dial-a-Jet patterns. From tight streams to fog spray, there was plenty of water flying and a few surprise showers thrown in for free 😅
Safe to say the GFU's got a workout tonight… and so did everyone standing too close to the hose.

This National Volunteer Week, we’re giving a huge shoutout to the legends who trade spare time for smoke, sweat, training nights, community events and the occasional mystery BBQ sausage 🌭🚒
ASVBB runs on volunteers with big hearts, dirty boots and questionable sleep schedules ❤️🔥
We’d also like to recognise every volunteer across Australia who gives their time to help others, no matter the role. Communities around the nation are stronger because of people like you 👏🇦🇺
Thanks to every member who shows up, steps up and keeps our community safe. Absolute bloody legends.

Tonight’s training was all about the drip torch 🔥
For some members it was a refresher, for others it was their first time getting hands-on with one of the most important tools we use on the fireground.
Members learnt
• the different parts of the drip torch
• safe handling and operation
• lighting techniques
• different application methods we use during burns and firefighting operations
A good burn doesn’t just happen by luck. It takes knowledge, teamwork and knowing how to “paint the paddock” properly without turning your eyebrows into souvenirs 😅
Great to see members building confidence and skills out on the training ground tonight 👏
