Last nights training our members got to see our new Fire sticks in action & learnt how to use them. These are definitely going to help make our mitigation burns be more efficient & help with member fatigue.

We’re incredibly grateful to have received the grant funding for our new fire sticks. This support will make a real difference to our volunteers and our ability to support the community.

Our Government is backing the volunteers who help keep Central Australia safe. 🚒

It was great to present the Alice Springs Volunteer Bushfire Brigade with an almost $15,000 grant recently.

The funding will help the team purchase a towbar-mounted Firestick ignition system, making prescribed burning and hazard reduction activities safer and more efficient.

It’s great to be able to support our local volunteers with the equipment they need to keep doing their important work.

Mum and bub are doing well, and we couldn’t be happier for this gorgeous little family!

🏉🔥 GRAND FINAL DAY? WHAT GRAND FINAL DAY? 🔥🏉

While the rest of Alice Springs was parked in front of the TV, snacks in hand and yelling at the footy, our legends were out doing what they do best… playing with fire! 🚒🔥

With fire season fast approaching, the crew gave up their Grand Final Saturday to get stuck into another mitigation burn, knocking down fuel loads and getting things ready before the grass decides to become Central Australia’s next big barbecue. 🌾🔥

Because apparently, “the Grand Final is on” isn’t a legitimate reason to postpone fire mitigation. 😂

Thankfully, the crew managed to finish up with enough time to catch the last quarter.

And then came the important part…

🏃‍♂️💨 Straight from the fireground to the Gillen Club!

Still smelling like smoke.
Covered in dust.
Probably carrying enough campfire aroma to fumigate the place. 😂

We reckon the Gillen Club knew they were coming before they even walked through the door! 🔥👃🤣

A massive shoutout to our legends for giving up their Saturday, missing most of the footy and putting in the hard yards to help prepare our community for the fast-approaching fire season.

Volunteer firefighters: sacrificing Grand Finals so everyone else can sleep a little easier when summer arrives. ❤️🚒🔥

And yes… they may have missed most of the game, but they definitely didn't miss the post-burn refreshments. 🍻😂

🔥 Shoutout to our legends! 🔥

This afternoon, some of our crew headed out to a fire on the Tanami Road and in true ASVBB fashion, managed to christen our new GFU at the same time. 🚒🔥

Sometimes the fireground throws up situations you simply couldn’t script… and today was definitely one of them!

Captain Jen managed to pick up a flat tyre, so while she was underneath the GFU getting the jack into position, Riley was lending a hand loosening the wheel nuts.

Unfortunately, from a passing car, the scene looked a little different. They saw the beacons flashing, Jen lying on the ground and Riley kneeling beside her and understandably thought there had been a fatality. 😳

The beautiful souls heading out towards Yuelamu had actually pulled over at a safe distance to send their thoughts and prayers for the poor soul and their family, believing they had just witnessed a tragedy.

Meanwhile… Jen was very much alive and simply changing a tyre! 😂

It’s moments like these that remind us just how unpredictable, chaotic and memorable the fireground can be.

A huge shoutout to everyone who responded this afternoon, especially our crew christening the new GFU in the most ASVBB way possible. 🚒🔥

And to the lovely people who stopped to offer their thoughts and prayers… thank you for caring. ❤️

Tonight’s training was all about getting familiar with our new GFU unit, kindly provided by BFNT!

Because apparently learning one type of GFU wasn’t enough… we now have FOUR completely different GFUs for our crews to learn and operate on the fireground! 😂

🔥Weekend plans? Cancelled. 😂
A massive shoutout to the ASVBB crew who gave up part of their Saturday morning to get stuck into another mitigation burn along Larapinta Drive.
Plenty of training put into practice, and a few more kilometres of firebreaks under our belts.
Weekends are for relaxing… but apparently someone forgot to tell our volunteers!

Our Captain Jen and Deputy Captain Emma, were out and about tonight tackling a small grass fire along the Stuart Highway. 🚒💨

A massive THANK YOU to the legends who spotted it and did the right thing by calling 000. 📞👏

Those early reports help us get there quick-smart and stop little fires from turning into big dramas!
Oh & a special shout-out to Jen for supporting The Black Wreath's Blacken Open Air even while out on the fire ground. 🖤🔥

🔥 Grass Fire Shoutout 🔥

A big thank you to our members who turned out to multiple grass fires along Larapinta Drive & Namatjira Drive this evening. Your quick response and hard work helped get things under control.

And a special mention to the mystery person who decided to leave their jerry can and half-burnt rubbish behind at the scene… 🤦‍♀️
