🚧Temporary lane closure for tree works – Pine Avenue, East Ballina

Council has identified a Fig Tree to be removed from Pine Avenue, East Ballina due to disease.

Removal works will be undertaken on Tuesday 8 September from 9.30am – 3pm.

⛔Council will need to close the westbound lane at 41 Pine Avenue and, at times, both lanes will be on hold while works are undertaken. Traffic control will be in place.

🚗Motorists travelling in either direction should expect delays, allow extra travel time or consider an alternate route where possible.

🚶🚲Traffic control will assist local residents with access and direct pedestrians and cyclists.

Council appreciates the community’s patience and understanding during this essential safety work.

💐🌼🌳Clean Up Australia’s Spring Clean campaign is underway, and Ballina Shire Council is making it easier for local groups to get involved💐🌼🌳

Organise a litter clean-up in your local area, register it with Clean Up Australia, and nominate for Council to come and collect the waste afterwards.

Schools, sporting clubs, workplaces, community groups and neighbours can all get involved. Clean Up Australia will provide resources to help you run your event, and Council can take care of the collected waste.

So, gather your crew, choose a local spot that could use some TLC and give it a Spring Clean.

Register your Spring Clean at cleanup.org.au

A major milestone for the Ballina Bridges Duplication Project, with piling works now underway.

This week, representatives from all three levels of government joined Council staff and project contractors on site to mark the milestone and see construction progress first hand.

The $85 million project will duplicate Fishery Creek Bridge and Canal Bridge, improving traffic capacity, flood resilience and access between Ballina Island and the M1.

You know who they are. Give them their moment.

The person who always puts their hand up. Who brings people together, lends a hand, champions a cause or simply gets things done.

They might coach a local team, create and inspire, care for our environment, lead change, support people through tough times, or have spent years giving back to their community.

Some are well known. Others work quietly behind the scenes. But chances are, someone has already come to mind.

The Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards recognise and celebrate the individuals, groups and events that make an outstanding contribution to our community.

Do you know someone who deserves a nomination?

Give them their moment by submitting a nomination for a 2027 Ballina Shire Australia Day Award.
