🛟 JOINT FLOOD RESCUE TRAINING 🛟

Flood rescue technicians from NSW SES Ballina, NSW SES Lismore City Unit and NSW SES Kyogle Unit met today sharpening their skills at a joint professional development day.

Operators were faced with a range of dynamic scenarios replicating life like rescue environments. The session had a heavy focus casualty rescue from motor vehicles in flood water.

Great work to all members and staff involved.

NSW SES would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Rous County Council for their support in making this training site and staff available. Another great example of agencies working together to strengthen our communities.

This month NSW SES Ballina members have been busy training our skills that might be used when we are called out to a storm job.

We’ve practiced a number of scenarios that included
💦using pumps to clear water from flooded buildings
👝Filling and using sandbags to help protect buildings from water damage
📲practicing how we coordinate and task teams from our incident management team

With the higher risk season for storms fast approaching, our members will be ready to respond to any calls for storm assistance from the community.

🧡Congratulations to team Ballina who completed at the State Disaster Rescue Challenge over the weekend! 🧡

Bringing together the top teams from the regional rescue challenges from across NSW, the event was a chance to test skills, leadership and problem solving.

Responding to a simulated mass casualty disaster, the teams participated in scenarios including rescuing patients at heights in a transformer station, evacuating occupants from a house and assisting people experiencing homelessness from a bunker.

👏Great job to the Ballina team, we’re proud of you!
