Flood rescue training remains a key focus for our unit, given the flood risks in our area and dangers that floodwaters can present.

We regularly train in a variety of rescue scenarios, both in and out of the water ensuring we’re prepared to respond whenever needed. Maintaining these critical skills and strong teamwork is essential to performing safe and critical rescues.

After a recent training session we were treated to a delicious homemade chicken soup made by one of our members, a perfect way to finish a great night of training and strengthening team relationships.

🧡 Wear Orange Wednesday! 🧡

Today we want to celebrate the amazing volunteers that make up the NSW SES Ballina unit, and all the other SES volunteers that make up our orange family 🧡

They give countless hours of their time to help the community, and really, we couldn’t ask for a better bunch of people to make up our Ballina Unit.

As it’s also National Volunteer Week we also want to acknowledge all our colleagues from other volunteer agencies and organisations in the Ballina community, who we work so closely with (just a few of these many amazing people pictured here, but there’s so many more.) Thanks for all you do!
