Platypus House offers up close and personal interactions with two of Australia’s most unique and delightful mammals: the Tasmanian Platypus and Australian short-beaked Echidna. These fascinating creatures are unlike any other mammals on earth, and are part of the mammalian Order, Monotremes, also known as the egg-laying mammals. Your Platypus House fully guided tour includes:

• An informative int

erpretation room, where you can view the pelt of a platypus and the spines of an echidna.
• 5 Platypus (Pumpkin, Freya, Dawn, Poppy and Jupiter) all fed on your tour.
• Three tanks that offer full, clear underwater views of our platypus as they dive to find their food.
• One large pool that offers great surface views of our Platypus as they bring their food to the surface to eat or enjoy a relaxing scratch on the banks of the tank.
• 3 Echidnas (Eddie, Edwina and Thomas) all fed on your tour.
• A stroll through the echidna garden where our echidnas happily roam around your feet or even climb into your lap if you sit quietly.
• Fascinating information about our monotremes throughout your tour given by our amazing staff. After the tour, feel free to browse our gift shop or have a bite to eat (cookies and coffee, or toasted sandwich and coffee specials are available).
