Yesterday our crews attended a block in Yeoman street for a Hazard Reduction.

Both crews worked together to put in a perfect burn and keep the fire contained to its original block.

The reason these burns are important is to reduce the fuel load in town for the upcoming fire season and there is less threat to lives and property.

Keeping Toomelah safe

On Friday Bogga RFS was invited to attend the Toomelah Community Disaster Preparedness & Resilience Day.

The reason for this project is to prepare the community for disaster such as fires, floods, storms and other disasters that arise. We also had the opportunity to connect with other emergency services, community organisations and local community members.

Over the last 24hrs Bogga 1 has responded to two separate incidents.

First one being a grassfire beside the Woobly Boot hotel. Crews arrived on scene quickly to extinguish the fire.

Second one was for a vehicle fire this morning at the back of Toomelah. Crews worked in cold conditions to extinguish the fire with no further damage to property.

On Sunday just after 1900 we received reports of Structure fire in Yeoman street, Boggabilla.

Our appliance arrived on scene with in 7 minutes of receiving the first call. We were confronted with a fully involved Structure fire threatening a neighbouring house.

Crews quickly deployed two lines and started protecting near by assets and extinguishing the main fire. Due to the size of the fire a second pumper from Goondiwindi QFD was requested.

Once again thanks to firefighters Lauren, Charlie, Micheal, Captain Larry and DC Graham on another outstanding job 💪

Goondiwindi QFD, Goondiwindi police, Goondiwindi Ambulance, Essential Energy and Bogga police all responded to this incident.

BOGGABILLA LANDFILL - UPDATE
We would like to inform the Boggabilla community that the landfill still remains closed and Council continues to work on a solution to restore services as soon as possible.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the illegal dumping of asbestos.

Aunty Dawn Dennison and Uncle Carl McGrady ❤️

Aunty Dawn was awarded the Aboriginal female of the year award.

Uncle Carl on being acknowledged as a 2026 Elders Honour Board Inductee as part of national reconciliation week.
