For other fire info call 1800 000 699 or go to www.fire.tas.gov.au First established in the 1980s, Claremont Fire Brigade existed as a composite brigade at the Claremont Fire Station, a Hobart Fire Brigade sub station. This included both volunteer and career staff. A short time after, a new career staffed station was built at Glenorchy, at the same time the Moonah Station was closed down. Some car

eer staff from both Claremont and Moonah were allocated to the Glenorchy station, and remainder of the staff were dispersed to other stations within the Hobart Fire Brigade. Today, Claremont Fire Brigade is staffed completely by volunteers. The brigade's area of responsibility includes residential, commercial, industrial and rural properties. Some of these include schools, a technical college, nursing homes, shopping complexes and the famous Cadbury chocolate factory. Claremont Fire Brigade maintains two four-wheel drive firefighting appliances; a light tanker and a heavy tanker.

From all those at Claremont best of luck Nathan.

Tasmania Fire Service Station Officer, Nathan, was feeling fatigued and had noticed some blood in his stools so he went to the doctor.

“I was referred for a colonoscopy and gastroscopy on 4 February this year, coincidentally National Cancer Day, where I found out I had a tumour which turned out to be stage 3 bowel cancer,” he said.

At 46-years-old, the father of two is undergoing treatment for Australia’s second deadliest cancer but one of the most treatable when detected early.

If you are aged 45 to 49, you can request your first bowel cancer screening kit by calling the National Bowel Screening Program on 📞 1800 627 701.

📪 If you are aged 50 to 74, you will receive a bowel cancer screening kit in the mail every two years, if your Medicare address is up to date.

🩺 However regardless of your age, if you have concerns around any potential symptoms, or bowel cancer in general, speak to your GP just like Nathan did.

More importantly please pop a new battery in every smoke detector in your house to keep your family protected. Only working smoke detectors save lives 😊🚒
