Shooters Fishers & Farmers Party of Tasmania Community Forum addressing proposed changes

10/08/2026

A huge amount of Tasmanian public forestry land was rug pulled from hunters in late 2020 abruptly without a statement from Sustainable Timber Tasmania to the hunting community with an explanation why. Mere crumbs of land, most unproductive were then left to us. Large traditional hunting areas, many close to the more remote communities around the state were left with nothing, we are talking about sustainable food sources and volunteer pest management being unnecessarily removed by a government business enterprise without mindful respect for who really owns the land, the Tasmanian public!

Team Shooters Fishers & Farmers Party of Tasmania with Carlo Di Falco MP as our hard working parliamentary representative are locked into the important task of reclaiming as much as possible that was taken away, we can assure you, we will not stop fighting for rightful public land access until hunting access inclusive of other activities the public may enjoy on our PTPZ (formally known as State Forest) lands are restored.

Running the national gun buyback in NSW alone will cost taxpayers almost half a billion dollars, as peak bodies opposing the scheme step up their campaign against supportive MPs as implementation of the key response to the Bondi terror attack continues to languish.

📣 This is exactly why we keep saying the problem isn't law-abiding gun owners.

ABC is reporting the Albanese Government is fighting to hide cabinet documents on counterterrorism funding and resourcing in the years before the Bondi attack. They're claiming "public interest immunity" so the Royal Commission can't fully examine whether priorities were shifted away from keeping Australians safe.

Meanwhile, Category A/B ri**es and sh****ns (the ones we use for pest control) get all the scrutiny.

The real failures were in intelligence, warnings ignored, stretched agencies, and political decisions on funding – not farmers and recreational hunters who jump through hoops for their licences.

Focus on fixing vetting, information sharing, and actual counterterrorism resourcing instead of punishing responsible owners with more restrictions and buybacks.

What do you think, shooters?

***rmsRights

The federal government has made a public interest immunity claim over the documents before the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion, essentially arguing it is not in the public interest for the documents to be released.
