Recently, Tiga Cross had the opportunity to present at the 2026 Tourism Symposium, sharing the story of Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary — our past, where we are today, and where we hope to go in the future.

Sometimes, when you are so focused on what comes next, it is easy to forget just how important it is to stop and reflect on how far you have already come.

The past two years have brought enormous change for the Sanctuary. We have continued to grow our focus on wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, conservation, education, research and meaningful community connection, while also working to create a sustainable future for this very unique place.

There have been challenges, lessons, difficult decisions and plenty of change along the way — but there have also been some incredible achievements made possible by our staff, volunteers, students, supporters, partners and wider community.

Sharing the past, present and future at the Tourism Symposium was a wonderful reminder that transformation does not happen overnight. It happens one decision, one project, one partnership and one animal at a time.

We are proud of how far Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary has come in just two years, but we are even more excited about what the next chapter could look like. 💚🐢🐬

The future is about continuing to evolve, continuing to listen, and continuing to build a wildlife sanctuary that our community can be proud of.

Our wildlife needs us to be ready!

Bird flu isn’t just a threat to shearwaters and seabirds. As the risk increases, all injured and sick wildlife could be impacted, particularly if veterinary clinics are unable to accept wildlife because of biosecurity risks.

That’s why we are preparing now. But we need your help to be ready for what may come. 💙

Help us launch our Wildlife Triage Trailer and strengthen our emergency wildlife response.

💚 Stronger together for wildlife. 🐨🦘

Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary is incredibly proud to be a member of the NSW Wildlife Council and part of a network of more than 30 wildlife rehabilitation organisations working together across NSW.

Last week, our Managing Director, Tiga, attended the NSW Wildlife Council meeting, bringing organisations together to discuss the challenges facing our wildlife, share knowledge and ideas, and look at how we can continue strengthening rescue and rehabilitation across the state.

Congratulations to the NSW Wildlife Council on 20 years of connecting, supporting and advocating for our wildlife rehabilitation sector! 🎉

We’re proud to be part of this amazing network and its united voice for wildlife. 💚🐢🦘🐨

🦭 Meet the Dads of CCWS – Ozzie

Meet Ozzie – one proud Australian sea lion dad! 💙

This Father's Day we're celebrating some of the incredible fathers that call Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary home.

Ozzie has made a remarkable contribution to the conservation of his endangered species and is the proud father of Hugo, Gary, Miki and Maverick.

Each of his pups has their own unique personality, helping us learn more about Australian sea lions while contributing to the national breeding program that supports the future of this incredible species.

Happy Father's Day, Ozzie – thanks for helping secure a brighter future for Australian sea lions. 🦭💙

🐧 Meet the Dads of CCWS – Eric

Meet Eric – our devoted Little Blue Penguin dad! 🐧💙

Fatherhood comes in all shapes and sizes, and Eric has played an important role in the next generation of Little Blue Penguins.

Eric is the proud father of Shrek, and together they represent the important conservation work happening through the regional breeding program for this amazing species.

This Father's Day we're celebrating all the dads helping inspire the next generation—whether they have feathers, fur or flippers.

Happy Father's Day, Eric! 💙

🐬 Remembering Bucky – A Father’s Day Tribute

Some fathers and father figures may no longer be with us, but that does not mean we cannot acknowledge and celebrate them this Father’s Day. 💙

This weekend, we are remembering Bucky, a much-loved dolphin and the father of Zippy, Bella and Jet.

Although CCWS does not breed dolphins, Bucky’s legacy remains an important part of our sanctuary. We continue to provide lifelong care for Zippy, Bella and Jet, while sharing their stories and helping our community learn more about dolphins and marine conservation.

While Bucky is no longer with us, his legacy lives on through his family and the many memories he created with staff, volunteers and visitors over the years.

This Father’s Day, we acknowledge all the fathers and father figures who are no longer by our side but will never be forgotten. 💙

⭐💙 What Our Visitors Are Saying...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely and knowledgeable staff and lots of animal shows and talks from 9am till 1 30pm. 3 hours is a good amount of time to see everything. The dream time dolphin show was a highlight. - Melody Pascoe.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave us a review. Your feedback not only brightens our team's day, but also helps future visitors discover CCWS and supports our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect wildlife.
