For anyone who did not receive their 2026 Census form, here is informed advice.
Please be aware that all Census forms received by Coraki Post Office were delivered well in advance of today's Census.
If you did not receive a Census form then we did not see it / receive it.
It is our understanding that all deliveries of Census forms that did NOT come through Australia Post were to be delivered by a private contractor - we have not been informed who this is.
Pop Up Hubs are available. These are desks or stalls set up in public places, such as shopping centres, where you can get information about the Census, collect a paper form, and get help to complete the Census (http://info.census.abs.gov.au/help/get-help-near-you).
The closest Pop Up Hub to Coraki is:
Lismore Central Shopping Centre
36-44 Carrington Street Lismore

Today is Census Day across Australia. For regional communities like ours, it is particularly important that we are counted.

Census data helps governments understand where people live and what our communities need, from health care and education to housing, transport and other essential services.

The 2026 Census can be completed online. If you prefer a paper form, these are also available, including through Census Pop-up Hubs providing help in communities across the country.

If you haven’t completed your Census yet, there is still time.

Find out how to complete the Census, get help or find your local Pop-up Hub here: https://www.abs.gov.au/census or call 1800 181 227

Australian Census 2026
We have been fielding many enquiries from customers regarding how to get a paper copy of the Australian Census 2026.
For people in the rural areas (out of town) these forms did not come through Australia Post. It is our understanding that a private contractor is covering the distribution of these forms.
If you have not received yours yet, you can request a form at
https://info.census.abs.gov.au/help/get-paper-form
OR
call the Census Contact Centre on 1800 181 227.
Hope this helps!

You can request a paper form to complete the Census.

Hello All. Coraki Post Office is preparing it's own submission into the upcoming Senate Inquiry into the Australia Post retail network (https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Environment_and_Communications/AusPostRetail48P).
One of the topics we are exploring is:
"What services do you want that is not currently being provided at Coraki Post Office?"
If you have the time please comment below on what extra services you would like to see being offered. There is no right answer. Let your hair down and go wild!!

This is the vision from the Australia Post Executive General Manager view of Post Offices for the future ... a "trusted part of the community" vending machine.

03/08/2026

If you would like your thoughts heard on the future of the Post Offices across Australia, please either:

1. make a submission at https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Committees/Senate/Environment_and_Communications/AusPostRetail48P, or

2. you can send an email to the committee secretariat or to
[email protected]

Either way we would encourage you to let the Australian Senate know what you think Post Offices in the future should look like. Are they a:
* a community hub staffed by real, friendly people who are keen to support you, your family, your business, your community?
OR
* are Post Offices a vending machine that sends you an SMS when your parcel is ready to collect?

"Welcome to your new Post Office". Is this what you would like to see Coraki Post Office replaced by?
* a set of parcel lockers you collect parcels from via a code sent to your mobile via SMS.
* a self serve vending machine where you choose you own packaging and complete the postage yourself.
* no ATM = no capacity to withdraw / deposit cash.
If you would like to have your thoughts heard, you have until this Friday 7 August 2026, to voice an opinion either via a letter or email to the Australian Senate.
More information to come!
