Western School Sports Association Western School Sports Association (WSSA) is part of the Department of Education. It administers sports programs for public school students in Western NSW.

The aim of this page is to provide information related to the Association's affairs. This will include updates on trials such as cancellations and Association achievements. We welcome questions and comments. However, all comments are moderated and if they are not positive and in the spirit of our values, they will not be allowed on the page. Similarly, while you are welcome to send messages, we re

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ WSSA PSSA & CHS Cross Country – Orange 2026 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

A fantastic day of competition in Orange today as our Western athletes took on the WSSA PSSA and CHS Cross Country trials.

From the first race to the last, our students showed determination, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship, representing their schools and the Western region with pride.

Congratulations to all competitors on their efforts and achievements. Whether you crossed the finish line first or simply gave it your all, you should be proud of what you accomplished today.

A huge thank you to the organisers, officials, volunteers, teachers and families who helped make the day a success.

🏃‍♂️🌟 Western Cross Country Carnival – 10 June 2026 🌟🏃‍♀️

The countdown is on! We look forward to welcoming competitors, managers and supporters to Gosling Creek, Orange for the 2026 Western Cross Country Carnival.

Please find attached the official timetable for both the Primary and Secondary carnivals. Competitors are encouraged to arrive early, familiarise themselves with the course and be ready for marshalling prior to their event.

🏅 Primary Carnival: Course walk from 9:00am
🏅 Secondary Carnival: Course walk from 11:45am

WSSA would like to take a moment to acknowledge the real MVPs behind our amazing athletes….our parents!!! We want to thank you for all the things you do to support our Western kids in playing the sports they love. Thankyou for…
🚗 Driving endless hours to trials, training and competitions around the state. It’s not unusual for people in our region to travel 10+ hours!
💵 Managing all those expenses that add up, from fuel, uniforms, shoes, accommodation, food, first aid/sports med supplies and many other accessories.
🥕 🍫 Packing nutritious lunches and home cooking delicious sweet treats (sometimes for the whole team!).
⏱️ Helping the convenors at championships with admin, bench duties and transporting equipment. So many of you volunteer to help out and we would not be able to do it without you.
🤗 Endless support of your own superstar in their individual events and achievements, but also supporting their teams. We love when you cheer them on and are always there for emotional support with a hug in the good and tough times.

Parents, we salute you and say a HUGE thankyou 🫶 as you continue to support our athletes in the Western Region.
