We deliver a wide variety of services to our customers including potable water, wastewater treatment, supply irrigation water and drainage services, environmental land management, education programs and water entitlements. Our area of operation extends from Kerang to the South Australian border, taking in the municipalities of Mildura, Swan Hill and Gannawarra. House Rules

Good biosecurity remains the best defence against H5 bird flu for backyard chickens.

There are simple steps you can take to help protect your backyard birds from H5 bird flu:

✅ Use netting, fencing, roofing or other barriers where possible to reduce contact with wild birds or wild bird droppings
✅Keep feed and water away from wild birds
✅ Clean poultry yards and coops regularly
✅ Wash your hands before and after handling birds
✅ Avoid sharing equipment with other poultry owners
✅ Monitor your birds for signs of illness and report any suspect cases immediately

These steps can help keep your birds healthy and reduce the risk of spreading disease.

Many people assume every litre of water costs the same. In reality, water prices are influenced by several factors, including keeping water affordable, treating customers fairly and ensuring supplies remain sustainable for the future.

We're looking for a motivated and community-minded individual to join our Kerang Operations team and help deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services to local communities. No water industry experience is required. We'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.

In this role, you'll contribute to the operation and maintenance of essential water and wastewater infrastructure, undertake inspections and monitoring activities, collect water samples and support the delivery of services that make a real difference every day.

If you're safety-focused, dependable and eager to learn, we'd love to hear from you. Experience in maintenance, construction, agriculture, utilities or similar industries is welcomed but not essential.

At Lower Murray Water, we're committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. Lower Murray Water has the lowest urban water prices in Victoria. At the same time, households in our region use more town water than anywhere else in the state.

In fact, average consumption is around double that of the next highest Victorian water corporation.

Why does this matter?
The amount of water we use today shapes the cost, availability and reliability of water tomorrow. Small changes in everyday use can make a big difference.

Human cases of H5 bird flu are very rare and it has not been shown to spread from person to person.
Those who work with or care for birds are more likely to be exposed to H5 bird flu because they have closer and more frequent contact with birds than most people.
Getting your seasonal flu vaccination is strongly recommended. It reduces the risk of becoming seriously ill if you are exposed to both seasonal flu and bird flu at the same time.
Flu vaccinations are available at your chemist, GP, Council or Aboriginal health service.
