Piara Waters Senior High School Piara Waters SHS is a school of choice, set in the beautifully-landscaped suburb of Piara Waters. We presently host Years 7-10.

We are a foundation school and grow each year by adding a cohort until we reach Year 12 in 2028.

Armadale Rotary, partnership with Piara Waters Senior High School to support our students with scholarships and camps, as well as the 4 way speech competition. Two of our students represented Armadale Rotary in the semi finals of the Rotary 4 way speech competition.

Our students competed against Frederick Irwin College and Coodanup College who are part of Mandurah Rotary club. Amber and Pualani each spoke for 6 minutes on their chosen topic incorporating the Rotary 4 way test into their speech.

Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Both students were outstanding and Pualani won the semi final outright and will represent Piara Waters Senior High School and Armadale Rotary on Thursday 10th September in the Grand Final.

Congratulations to both girls and good luck to Pualani, we wish her well next week.

🌟 EA Appreciation Week! 🌟

This week, we celebrated our wonderful Education Assistants and the incredible difference they make to our students and school community every day. 💙

Our EAs were treated to a morning tea, thoughtful gifts, and, most importantly, heartfelt poems written by our students to thank them for their care, patience, encouragement and support. 💐☕🎁

It was a beautiful opportunity for our students and staff to share their appreciation and let our EAs know just how valued they are.

On Tuesday 1st September, our Performing Arts Club students had the wonderful opportunity to showcase their creativity and explore what “Health is Wealth!” means to them, through performance at !

Students were recognised with Certificates of Merit for their hard work, dedication, creativity and commitment throughout the process.

Students also took home the Healthways Award for ‘Effective Exploration of Theme’.

A huge congratulations to every student who took part. Their commitment, teamwork and willingness to use the arts to explore meaningful health and wellbeing messages, made the event a fantastic celebration of ‘Health is Wealth!’

We are incredibly proud of their commitment, teamwork, and the creativity shown throughout the event.

What a fantastic Book Week we have had, celebrating “A Symphony of Stories” through reading, writing, creativity and imagination!

Throughout the week, our students enjoyed a wonderful range of activities:
📖 Library Excursion – exploring stories and discovering new books
🎤 Poetry Slam – sharing powerful words, ideas and stories through performance
🎨 Book Cover Competition – showcasing creativity and imagination
📚 Book Drive – sharing the joy of reading with others
✍️ Write a Book in a Day – five teams taking on the incredible challenge of creating a book in just one day!
👗📚 Book Week Dress-Up Parade – bringing favourite characters and stories to life!

A huge thank you to our English teachers, staff, students and families for making Book Week such a memorable celebration. 💙

The countdown is on!
Friday 4 September (Week 7) will see Piara Waters Senior High School come alive for our 2026 Athletics Carnival! 🔥

Students will battle it out across the day for points, bragging rights and the chance to be crowned 2026 Athletics Carnival Champions! 🏆

We want to see plenty of house colours, costumes, cheering and house spirit as our students compete, support their teammates and make the carnival one to remember.

A coffee van will be available to keep staff and parents fuelled throughout the day, while the Rotary Club will be running a sausage sizzle, with all funds raised donated to charity.

📚 Happy Australian School Library Day! 📚

Today, Piara Waters Senior High School celebrates Australian School Library Day as part of our CBCA Book Week celebrations, with this year’s theme, “School Libraries: The Best Investment.” 🌟

Our Information Resource Centre (IRC) is much more than a place to borrow books. It is a vibrant and welcoming space where students read, learn, explore, discover, connect and imagine. 📖✨

Throughout the year, our IRC supports a strong culture of reading through access to a diverse range of books and digital resources, including Sora, as well as reading challenges, Book Week activities, clubs, games and opportunities for students to connect through shared interests. 🎲🎮📚

A very special thank you to our wonderful Library Officer, Mrs Ihanimo, for creating a welcoming, engaging and inclusive space for our students and for helping foster a love of reading and learning across our school. ❤️

As part of our Book Week celebrations, our students took to the stage to participate in an exciting Slam Poetry Showcase! 🎭📝
Slam poetry is a dynamic and expressive form of poetry that gives students the opportunity to share their ideas, creativity and voices through performance.
We were incredibly impressed by the creativity, confidence and passion shown by all of our participants! 🌟

📚✨ Celebrating our Top Readers! ✨📚
During CBCA Book Week, some of our school’s top Year 7 and Year 8 readers were treated to a special author event at Piara Waters Library, where they had the wonderful opportunity to meet acclaimed Western Australian children’s authorRaewyn Caisley.
Students participated in engaging writing activities, listened to books being read aloud and learned more about the writing process and the joy of storytelling. It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their outstanding commitment to reading and inspire them to continue exploring the wonderful world of books. 📖💫
A huge thank you to the City of Armadale and Piara Waters Library for hosting our students and supporting our love of reading. 💙📚

National Science Week was an interesting and engaging series of learning activities enjoyed by students. Thank you to the Science Learning Area and everyone for making Science fun and exciting for our students 🌱🪴

Sowing the seeds of Science! Growing our knowledge as our school grows. Nurturing knowledge and growth for all.🌱
Year 7 classes took part in a learning activity on how seeds disperse to form a new plant. There are several different methods and one of those is to disperse by wind. The students put their origami skills to the test to show how wind disperses a seed and the shape affects the time taken to disperse.
