💚 New Blister Pack Recycling Point in Port Augusta! ♻️

Local resident Shirley Mundy, along with a dedicated group of volunteers, has been helping our community recycle blister packs—the packaging used for medications like Panadol—for many years.

Until recently, these volunteers relied on the generosity of locals travelling to Port Pirie and Adelaide to return collected blister packs to National Pharmacies. Earlier this year, they were thrilled to have a local chemist step in as a collection point—but unfortunately, this service is no longer available.

Determined to keep this important recycling effort going, Shirley reached out to Council:
“Saving aluminium from landfill is beneficial, so a local collection point is imperative. Please, can the community help find another recycling point?”

We’re happy to share that Council has stepped in to help! 🎉

A new recycling option has been set up using TerraCycle Zero Waste Boxes, with a blister pack collection point now available at the Civic Centre (Customer Service area).

✅ How you can help:
• Drop off your used blister packs at the Civic Centre
• Ensure all packs are empty
• Please remove cardboard packaging before recycling

Every small action makes a big difference. Let’s support Shirley and our amazing volunteers by keeping this valuable recycling effort going! 🙌
