A huge thank you to the team at TAMS Group Port Hedland for their recent repairs and maintenance work on the Iron Pride trailer.

As a volunteer emergency service, the ongoing support we receive from local businesses is critical to keeping our rescue assets operational and ready to respond when our community needs us most. The assistance provided by the TAMS team helps ensure Iron Pride remains ready for service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We are incredibly grateful for TAMS Group’s continued support of Marine Rescue Port Hedland. Their commitment to supporting local volunteers and community safety is truly invaluable.

Thank you for standing behind our volunteers and helping us continue our mission of saving lives on the water.

Tonight, our rescue vessels Iron Pride and Cape Thouin have been deployed to assist a 13-meter, 12-ton sailing yacht that lost steering and became distressed 35 nautical miles north of Port Hedland. The crew is currently towing the yacht back to the Spoilbank Marina. A huge shoutout to our volunteers out there tonight, keeping everyone safe on the water!

Lest we forget.

The MRPH team was proud to attend the dawn service in Port Hedland this morning, standing together to honour the service and sacrifice of our ANZACs.

After the service, the team enjoyed a well-earned gunfire breakfast with the Pilbara Regiment — a great way to connect, reflect, and share in the spirit of the day.

Days like today remind us of the values we carry forward in our own service: courage, mateship, and commitment to our community.

🚨 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT – The cat’s officially out of the bag… 🚨

Well… now the sign’s up, we can’t really keep this one quiet anymore

To help fund our new training facility at 10 McKay Street, Marine Rescue Port Hedland has officially divested half the site…

👉 And we’re proud to welcome our new neighbours… Bunnings Warehouse (Port Hedland – Marine Rescue precinct) 🔨⚓

That’s right — soon you’ll be able to knock over your weekend list in one street:
☕ Coffee at Dome
🔧 Hardware at Bunnings
🚤 Maritime safety with MRPH

Huge hats off to the SAMAT boys for pushing this through over a balmy Hedland summer ☀️💪 — not exactly peak building conditions, but they’ve made it happen.

The new setup will also deliver some key operational benefits for MRPH:
✔ Reduced response time for “urgent” parts runs
✔ Improved volunteer morale via snag proximity
✔ Ongoing investigation into whether anyone has ever left Bunnings empty handed

Once complete, 10 McKay Street will truly be a one-stop-shop for Hedland locals…

“Lowest prices are just the beginning” — especially when it comes to marine safety 😉

🌊 MRPH Weekend Training – On the Water 🚤

Another solid training session for the team this weekend, making the most of the 7.4m high tide on Sunday.

Our crews launched from Spoilbank Marina and navigated through to Pretty Pool Creek, sharpening local knowledge and vessel handling in one of Port Hedland’s most dynamic tidal environments.

Training like this ensures our volunteers remain prepared, confident, and ready to respond when it matters most — day or night.

A big shoutout to all members who gave up their time to continue building skills and keeping our community safe on the water 👏

🌊 🚤 Who are Marine Rescue Port Hedland (MRPH)? 🚤🌊

Marine Rescue Port Hedland is a 100% volunteer emergency service dedicated to keeping our local waters safe.

Operating along the Port Hedland coastline — from Reef Island to the outer harbour and up to De Grey River Mouth — our trained volunteers are on call 24/7 to assist recreational and commercial boaters when things don’t go to plan.

⚓ What We Do
• Search and rescue operations
• Respond to vessel breakdowns
• Assist vessels taking on water
• Support overdue or missing boaters
• Provide marine radio monitoring and safety advice
• Work alongside WA Police, DFES and other emergency services

With some of the busiest shipping channels in Australia and challenging tidal conditions, the waters off Port Hedland demand experience, teamwork and preparedness. Our volunteers train regularly to ensure we’re ready when the call comes.

🆘 Need Assistance?
If you are in an emergency, call 000 immediately.
For non-life-threatening marine assistance, contact our on-call Duty Skipper on 0407 476 096.

Before you head offshore:
✔ Plan your trip properly
✔ Check the weather and tides
✔ Carry the correct safety equipment
✔ Ensure your radio is operational

We’re proud to serve the Port Hedland community — because when you’re on the water, you’re never alone.
