Roma on Bungil Gallery We seek to promote Art in all its forms with a programme encompassing a variety of local and visitin

This exciting Gallery, which opened in June 2008, is the culmination of the dream of local artists. Over the past nineteen years, through the Annual Easter Art Show, the Maranoa Artists have raised an amazing $95,000.00 towards the project with the support of local business sponsors and groups such as the Roma branch of the Qld Arts Council. The Gallery is housed in the excellent Roma Community Ar

ts Centre; an initiative of the former Roma Town Council, supported by Government funding and a substantial contribution from the then Bungil Shire Council. The Centre, near the Roma CBD, also houses the Roma Town Library and studio spaces for local groups. The Gallery Management Committee oversees the running of the Gallery with the help of the volunteer ‘Friends of the Gallery ’. We seek to promote Art in all its forms with a programme encompassing a variety of local and visiting exhibitors and, where possible, exhibitions of particular interest to students and school children such as the highly successful Ministers Award for Excellence in November 2008. Our spacious Gallery allows us to host annual touring exhibitions from State and National Galleries, which enhance the artistic experience of the regional communities.

With one week left, it has been such a great experience and thank you for such positive feedback from you all re the collection. Here is the last poem to go with Cockatoo Rabble!

Bird photographic references: Kerry Schemioneck, Benjamin Nelson
(Sulphur Crested Cockatoos)

Watercolour on Arches 300 gsm paper, with timber frame under glass
72 x 80 cm

Cockatoo Rabble!
Raucous flocks of white and yellow descend to forage,
the sentry perched high, awaiting danger.
They feast on nature’s buffet — seeds, nuts, berries, roots, and insects —
crunching branches to keep strong beaks trimmed.
They screech and whistle, playful and curious,
social, intelligent, gloriously noisy.
For forty years they watch the world beside a lifelong mate,
returning to the same high tree hollows to tend their young.
Their wild chorus carrying across the sky.

There is something truly captivating about the way Heather Gall brings the Australian landscape to life — and Brolga Dance is a perfect example of her remarkable talent.
This stunning oil on canvas (91cm x 61cm) captures the grace and spirit of one of Australia's most iconic birds, painted by an artist whose love of native birdlife runs deep. Heather's connection to the Australian landscape began in childhood, when the lively, noisy flocks that gathered in her mother's garden first captured her heart — and that sense of wonder and joy is visible in every brushstroke of this gorgeous work.
Brolga Dance would make a truly special addition to any home, bringing warmth, movement, and a celebration of our beautiful Australian wildlife to your walls.

Available Now — Yowah Creek Serenity by Cate Day ✨
This stunning original painting is currently on display and available to purchase right here at the Gallery — and it is an absolute gem.
Cate Day has such a remarkable gift for capturing the soul of outback Queensland, and Yowah Creek Serenity is a wonderful example of her talent. Painted in acrylics and oils on canvas, this framed work (77cm x 60cm) draws you right into the quiet beauty of a western creek bed.
Cate herself describes being captivated by "the colour of the ground against the sky, the reflections in a muddy western water hole, and the sculptural shape of a white gum in a creek bed" — and that deep love of the landscape shines through in every brushstroke.
If you have been looking for a piece that celebrates the beauty of our incredible region, this could be the one. 🌿
