12th/16th Hunter River Lancers is an Australian Army (Part Time) Regiment based in NNSW and SE QLD.

Today, the Regiment loaded the first of our vehicles as we prepares to deploy to Far North Queensland for an upcoming exercise.

As we continue to build capability, develop skills, and strengthen readiness, the Regiment will deploy force elements to conduct Light Cavalry tasks in a demanding training environment. We will demonstrate the reach, capability, and determination of the Regiment, 11th Brigade, and the Australian Army.

A sincere thank you to 26 Transport Squadron (9th Force Support Battalion) for their professionalism, expertise, and support in preparing and loading our vehicles. Their efforts are critical to enabling our training and ensuring the Regiment is ready to succeed.

Last weekend, B SQN conducted a live-fire training activity at Wide Bay Training Area, sharpening our warfighting skills and pushing both our soldiers and vehicles in a demanding field environment. Training like this builds the discipline, confidence and combat readiness required to fight and win our nations wars.

Another busy week for the Lancers, with our members demonstrating the commitment and professionalism required to fight and win our nation’s wars.

Last weekend, soldiers conducted the 11 BDE Battle Staff Trainer activity, sharpening their command and decision-making skills. Then during the week, members teamed up with 209 Army Cadet Unit in Tamworth, supporting and mentoring the next generation of leaders.

And this weekend finished with the successful field training activity at Singleton Training Area, where members refined their war fighting skills in demanding conditions.

From the field to the community, our people continue to deliver with dedication, teamwork and readiness.

Today, we stood alongside members of our communities to remember.
We honoured the service and sacrifice of all who have worn our nation’s uniform, and those who continue to support them.
We were humbled by the strong turnout and the genuine show of support. It was an honour to reconnect with mates, share a story or two, and reflect together on the bonds that endure long after service

We honour the sacrifice, dedication, and unwavering commitment of the men and women who have worn the uniform in service of our nation. Their legacy lives on in our values, our duty, and our resolve.
We encourage all to take a moment to remember—attend a dawn service, participate in a local march, or pause in silence at first light.

EX WALER WALK 26: Precision. Power. Partnership. ⚔️

In April, B squadron undertook multiple training activities at Greenbank Training Area to ensure operational and personal readiness. The exercise focused on critical technical, tactical and C2 outcomes, including:

▪️Qualification: Mag58 GSMG and PMV-L Weapon Mount qualifications.

▪️Lethality: Live Fire Mounted Manoeuvre and Small Arms Ranges by Day and Night.

▪️Comms: SHQ sdvanced communications training in Data and Satellite systems.

▪️Teamwork: The squadron supported Alpha Coy, 9 RQR by facilitating their Mounted Safety Supervisor qualifications. We continue to strengthen the professional bond between our units at the Caboolture Multi User Depot (CMUD).

12/16 HRL brought SNCOs and Officers together for a focused PME, including QDEs, a DCA brief, and valuable discussion.

DCA also presented commissioning certificates to three officers. Congratulations to Lieutenant Abdullah, Lieutenant Hooper and Lieutenant Watson.

We finished with Run Army, building cohesion, resilience, and readiness.
