Fire and Rescue NSW are advising anyone visiting Tamworth for the Toyota Country Music Festival to ensure they plan well ahead for their trip.
With temperatures forecast to be in the high thirties to forties Supt Tom Cooper, Zone Commander for the New England and Northwest advises visitors to be mindful of the consequences that an escaped fire could have.
FRNSW offers the following tips for campers and caravanners to ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable time at the festival:
π₯ Ensure you leave plenty of time for travel and book ahead if possible;
π₯ Make sure you leave a good space between you and the van or RV next to you when you set up your site;
π₯ Have your gas cylinders, BBQs and other LPG operated equipment checked by a qualified person before use;
π₯ Ensure LPG cylinders are turned off at the main valve when not in use and spare cylinders have the valves pointing away from your van or RV;
π₯ Check the expiry date on your LPG Cylinders and ensure fittings and hoses are in good condition;
π₯ Make sure you have a working smoke alarm in your caravan or RV β Itβs the law;
π₯ Do not use naked flames or LPG appliances inside your tent;
π₯ Be aware that Total Fire Bans may be imposed during the Festival. Check the NSW RFS website for info - https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/
π₯ Tamworth Regional Council, local radio stations and the Toyota Country Music Festival https://www.tcmf.com.au/ provide regular information including emergency warnings during the festival ;
π₯ Avoid cooking a meal if you have been drinking alcohol. Purchase a meal at one of the many restaurants or hotels in Tamworth;
