🎉 We're thrilled to share that The Burnside Toy Library has won the "Accessibility, Inclusion and Belonging" award from the Australian Toy Library Awards that were held earlier this month 🎉

Thanks to all the work that our toy library staff and volunteers have done over the last year to create a safe and inclusive service for everyone in our community.

One of the biggest changes was the introduction of supported borrowing sessions for families who may find regular borrowing sessions difficult to access, particularly families of children with disability, developmental delay or additional needs.

🌞 Burnside also joined the Sunflower Hidden Disabilities program, with more than 50 staff and volunteers completing disability awareness and inclusion training, ensuring that support is available across the service.

There were many other additions and changes made throughout the year, but it was all developed with the help of families with lived experience and therapists with professional expertise.

👏 So congratulations to our hard working toy library staff and volunteers!

✅ If you are interested in discovering how The Burnside Toy Library can support you with your own borrowing needs, simply ask one of our friendly staff members next time you visit.
