All our thoughts are with Marine Rescue in Ballina this morning after two of their own were tragically killed last night whilst trying to reach a stricken yacht.

We send our love to their families and friends at this time.

Our deepest condolences to the Tamar Marine family,
Tamar Marine have been a huge support to our organisation and major provider for our supplies.
Hopefully the team will be able to rebuild soon

Tasmania Fire Service received multiple triple zero calls to a fire at Tamar Marine, Trevallyn overnight.

With initial calls being received at 12:02 am, crews were on scene within 3 minutes. Arriving to find a large portion of the store on fire, with flames coming from the second storey.

30 firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours before bringing it under control.

Due to low availability of mains water at the scene, crews pumped water from the river to extinguish the fire.

The business has been totally destroyed.

An excavator will be used to entirely extinguish the fire, and a large amount of smoke may be seen coming from the building up until around lunchtime today.

Fire Investigators will be on scene this morning beginning the scene examination to determine the cause of the fire.

We set our junior members to work today, teaching them how flares work and how to run a demonstration for the public, we then took them inside to learn how to service and maintain a PFD,
After a trip out on the water, safe to say I think everyone was happy today!

We want to express our deepest gratitude to the brave lads who risked their own safety to rescue an elderly gentleman after he swam out to save his boat following coming untied from the pontoon this morning in Ulverstone. Your quick thinking, courage, and selflessness turned what could have been a tragedy into a moment of hope and relief.

It’s not just the act itself, but the kindness and humanity behind it that we will never forget. You reminded us that true heroes walk among us — often without recognition — and that compassion can shine brightest in moments of danger.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. You have our respect, our admiration, and our eternal appreciation.

To those members of the public who raised the alarm and towed the unmanned vessel back in our thanks to you as well.

Marine Rescue Ulverstone members treated the gentleman for hypothermia until ambulance crews arrived.

We hope he has a speedy recovery.
