Thank you to everyone who made it along on Wednesday June 10th to support our 5th year of hosting Mates Night for National Men's Health Week.
After some time spent catching up with mates over a coffee from Small Brew and some delicious pizza from Pizza Thyme & The Thyme Lounge we settled in to watch Aidan's Story, a short film about a young mans inspiring recovery following a traumatic brain injury.
You can watch the film on YouTube here https://bit.ly/4xsVBth
Taking a short break to enjoy some delicious coffee vanilla slice prepared by Troy at McCarthy's Bread Lounge the next part of the evening kicked off with our Mates Chat which this year featured local builder Josh Rowe, Managing Director of JDR Homes and Central Coast Council Deputy Mayor John Beswick, himself a retired builder.
Josh and John spoke about how they first got started and the strong work ethic putting in extra hours on the tools from a young age that over time has paid off with each winning multiple awards and well respected within the Tasmanian building industry.
The conversation touched on a number of topics like the challenge of balancing work and down time, fatherhood and volunteering in the local community.
Thank you to both Josh and John for taking to the stage and being part of our Mates Chat in 2026.
Congratulations to all our Mates Raffle prize winners, almost all were in attendance on the night, it was great to celebrate the win together.
Mates Night is our way of celebrating National Men's Health Week, there are so many important messages around men's health and wellbeing that it can get a bit confusing or overwhelming sometimes and that's why Mates Night aims to be as simple as it can be.
A feed, an inspiring story and a chat.
Sometimes a simple catch up with mates can make a huge difference.
Special thanks to all our Mates Night supporters -
