Anzac Day, a day to reflect on the sacrifices of the selfless and courageous members of our defence forces, past and present.

We were humbled to provide our small part in todays ceremony’s in our municipality by providing traffic control and attending services at Wynyard’s Dawn Service, Somersets morning service, and Wynyard’s 11am service

Thank you Wynyard RSL , veterans , guest speakers and our community for the magnificent turn out, and respect to those that have fallen before us, and honour to those who continue to walk amongst our community today ❤️

At last nights training, we welcomed our neighbours from TAS SES - Burnie Unit to join us in a steep slope rescue scenario utilising our new mule.

This piece of equipment is a game changer in moving a patient to an ambulance during rescues. Our teams have encountered a number of challenging rescues over the past few years where this piece of equipment would have expedited the rescue, and reduces the physical toll on our volunteers.

A huge shout out to two local community groups whose selfless donations enabled us to purchase this, namely the Inglis District Country Music group, and Linden & Debbies Somerset Country Music group. These kind souls have been very generous to us for a number of years, helping us purchase equipment necessary to provide the service we do to assist both our local and Tasmanian community as a whole. Thank you to all involved ❤️

At this week’s training session, our members headed out to check out the RACT’s “More Than a Statistic” display, currently located at Nurses Retreat, Old Bass Highway, Wynyard, as our mates at Wynyard Fire Brigade did earlier. Our emergency services are often faced with the reality of life changing incidents as this display highlights.

While confronting, we were blessed with a beautiful rainbow, maybe a sign of appreciationto our members

This display is aimed at starting the conversation with young drivers about the risks associated with getting behind the wheel and to ensure our young people are aware of distractions and how to stay safe on our roads.

While it may be confronting for some, it is also a great reminder for all of us to drive to the conditions and remember, “we are all, “More Than a Statistic!
