***MEMBER APPRECIATION POST***

Today, some of our newest members completed their Storm Damage Ground Operator course.

They have been busy chopping away at components required to achieve this competency over consecutive weekly training nights with their final components completed today.

Some of these new operators will be going on to complete their Storm Damage Operator Heights components over coming weeks.

These new operators have learnt new skills & strengthened their team work amongst their peers and had some fun & laughs along the way.

All this dedication to their team & communities in which they live has to be commended each & every day.

They are now ready for the upcoming storm season ready to responded when you need them most.

A huge thank you again to each & everyone of our participants, trainers & helpers for making this happen.

Flood Rescue volunteers play a critical role in helping communities stay safe during floods and severe weather events. From assisting people trapped by rising water to supporting emergency response operations, Flood Rescue teams provide a specialist capability that can make a real difference when communities need it most.
To continue responding to future emergencies, we're looking for more people to join our Flood Rescue teams.
You don't need previous emergency services experience. We provide cost free training and support to help you develop valuable skills in flood rescue, boating, teamwork and emergency response.

🚗🚨 Did you know the Yamba SES Unit is an accredited rescue unit?

Many people know the NSW SES for helping during storms and floods, but our volunteers also provide Road Crash Rescue and a range of rescue services across the Lower Clarence and surrounding communities.

Our highly trained volunteers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, responding when people need us most.

Behind every rescue is a team of local volunteers who dedicate countless hours to training, maintaining their skills and being ready to respond.

We're all proud to serve our community but we need your help……

If you live or work in Yamba, have regular day time availability (some employers are accomplishing if you ask), a passion to help your community.

WE GENUINELY NEED YOU!!

When severe weather hits, knowing who to call can make all the difference! Here is a quick guide on when to contact the NSW SES (132 500) vs. when to call 000 (Triple Zero). 👇

🌊 Call NSW SES on 132 500 for:

🏠 Storm Damage: Storm damage to your home, roof or garage.

🌳 Fallen Trees: Trees or large branches blocking access.

🌧️ Property protection from Storms and Floods.

🚨 Call 000 (Triple Zero) IMMEDIATELY if:

⚠️ Life-Threatening Emergency: Anyone is in immediate danger.

🌊 Trapped in Floodwater: Vehicles or people stuck inwater.

⚡ Fallen Powerlines: Downed lines or active electrical hazards.

ℹ️ Helpful Local Tips:

📲 Keep the Hazards Near Me app downloaded on your phone for real-time local flood and storm warnings.

🚫 Remember: If it's flooded, forget it! Never drive, walk or ride through floodwaters.

Today, 10 June, we recognise Thank a First Responder Day.

NSW SES Yamba Unit is proud to stand alongside all first responders, paid and volunteer, who dedicate themselves to keeping our communities safe.

Our volunteers don't just serve the Yamba area.

NSW SES Yamba Unit volunteers support other units across that Clarence Valley & beyond.

From storm and flood response, Road Crash Rescue, General Land Rescue, Large Animal Rescue, Flood Rescue to land search and the many volunteers behind the scenes supporting our field crews, the commitment of our volunteers extends far beyond our own backyard, and we couldn't be prouder of each and every one of them.

We also extend our thanks to the families, employers, and community members whose support makes it all possible.

Behind every volunteer is a network of people who make their service possible.

We would also like to thank our other Emergency Service partners whom our volunteers work with side by side
