Our fortnightly parades allow us to recognise those students who come to school every single day and display our expectation of being Safe, Respectful Learners. The Superhero Award is a peer voted award - which means not only have the staff observed these qualities but so have students.
A huge congratulations to our current SUPERHEROES! What an honour for you and how lucky are we to have you as YSS students.

Years 3 and 4 are creating and researching projects on endangered animals. Students are investigating and sequencing the life cycles of plants and animals. They are working in groups to explore how living things depend on each other and their environment and predict how natural and human changes to habitats may affect life cycles and species survival. Look at the amazing work they are producing- well done!

Come along to school on Friday 21st (Week 6) dressed as your favourite book character!
Join us for our Week 6 parade where we will bring stories to life with a showcase of costumes and a performance from our choir! Parade commences at 9:15am. All welcome.

Most of the students at YSS come to school every day and exhibit our expectation of being a Safe, Respectful Learner. It is very important that our students know how much we value them. When you are safe and respectful it simply follows that you are a learner and you allow others to learn also. The Principal's Expectation Award is a new award this Semester and it is designed to recognise just how outstanding the students at YSS are. Last week on parade- out of many, many nominations Cara and Madeleine were chosen to receive the award. They also earned themselves a $5 tuckshop voucher. Well done to these amazing students!

Attendance is important at YSS and we are always striving to have as many students as possible at school. At parade we celebrated having 3 classes over 90% attendance for Weeks 3 & 4 with the top class attendance percentage being 2VL on 92.1%. Amazing effort, 2VL!

On Friday our Year 5 and 6 students attended the first of two sports Gala Days to be held this term. Sports offered were soccer, t-ball and touch football. Our students must be commended for their conduct both on and off the field exhibiting courage, fairness and teamwork throughout the day. Thank you also to Mrs Kennerley for your organisation of the day and the staff who attended and supported and cheered on the students of YSS!
